Kiki's Delivery Service: Soundtrack

lovely
Kiki's delivery service is my wife's favorite movie. I bought this as a gift for her a few months back and she listens to it while working from home at least once a week. it's still going strong and it's her favorite record in our collection.

Kiki makes me smile every time I listen. :-)
This soundtrack makes me happy! Much like Hisaishi's other Studio Ghibli works, Kiki's Delivery Service has a theme to it which is carried on throughout the entire set of tracks. It could be considered repetitive, but when I am - say cleaning or something - I tend to hum the same tunes over and over anyway. To me the repetition in the theme is soothing and good for working at other tasks while listening. It is upbeat and keeps you going without being really distracting. If you like Kiki in particular, Studio Ghibli movies and/or Mr. Hisaishi's work, you will probably like this soundtrack. As of writing, I have this on disc but Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, Ponyo and Nausicaa in digital format. I am an adult, and I just adore them all! I am sure kids would love these, too.Something of note for those disparaging over prices and availability of Ghibli/Hisaishi music:It is a big pain in the rear to get Hisaishi's work on disc here in the United States. Most discs must be imported from Japan - by you. The ones that have already been imported you can buy Prime, here from Amazon, but they are horridly overpriced. I mean, I think paying 30-60 bucks for an in-print soundtrack is atrocious, even if I love the music! You can click on the New or Used tabs to import reasonably priced discs from Japan through third parties, but you would run the risk of paying for shipping, waiting, and then potentially getting a damaged and/or bootleg copy of the music.I was lucky to get my copy of Kiki through the Amazon Warehouse Deals. It was 5.91 and has all the beautiful paper obi-strip and everything. So it pays to keep your eye out for dealsBut as much as I am a huge fan of Amazon, I must point out to Ghibli fans that one can buy almost all of the Studio Ghibli soundtracks from iTunes. I mostly stopped purchasing from iTunes in favor of Amazon, partially because I am typically a rather loyal consumer, but also because I have a couple Kindles and not having to transfer media formats, etc etc etc, is just so much simpler. I can just tote my Kindle and my Bose Soundlink Mini anywhere and have an array of music, movies and audiobooks at my disposal - which is AMAZING for travelling! But Amazon doesn't have any Ghibli soundtracks available in digital format and the digital discs are a fantastic deal over buying the imports. Most are 9.99. The Ni No Kuni track (from the popular PS3 game) is 14 or 15.99. Another boon to iTunes is that you get to listen to large sound clips of every track in the entire disc prior to purchasing. This means you know pretty much exactly what you are getting. Which is good when there are multiple versions of songs in English and Japanese, like there are with the Ghibli films which were published in America by Disney. So, fans, be sure to look for deals, or buy full price if you have the money - otherwise, at time of writing, you may want to consider iTunes for these great soundtracks. Best of luck and happy listening!Added a pic of my disc's jewel case, front/back and the obi strip. Hope this helps! :D

If you love the soundtrack to this movie, you will not be disappointed!
Kiki's delivery service is one of my favorite Studio Ghibli movies. So I had high expectations when I ordered this. I was not disappointed. The quality of the music threw my car speakers was great. Everything on the disc and case is written in japanese, but I have no issue with this. Would gladly buy again.

Japanese version is the best
I am so glad this was available to me through a third party. It has the two Japanese pieces from when Kiki is flying to her new town and the song sung at the end. I was sad the American version did not include these pieces. Americans aren't that shallow as to not purchase a soundtrack because it has someone singing a song in Japanese. Purchase the Japanese version if you can. It's well worth the price.

Gr-r-r-reat songs. Teasingly short.
So here's the skinny: I love the central themes in this soundtrack. I love Joe Hisaishi's compositions pretty all around. What I'm bummed about in simply that the tracks are so short. The soundtrack sounds like it a lot of it was made with composition software anyway, so why not make this melodious score more full? Many of the songs are just 1-2 minutes long. So I just want to inform those who love the movie and the soundtrack that the listening experience is brief and not so immersive. On the plus side, the whimsy remains in tact and the end of the CD features the 2 vocal tracks from the japanese cut of the movie. The vocal song from the beginning of the movie is only a partial track, but the other can be heard in its full-length glory.

Soundtrack for Kiki's Delivery Service
I am a big fan of Hayo Miazaki's works; each movie is created with absolute beauty from the art to the story to the music. This CD contains all the original Japanese music score for the movie, Kiki's Delivery Service, and bring a sort of liveliness and adventure when listening to it. As was mentioned before, the song "I'm Gonna Fly" is not included, and as you can see from the picture, the cover and song lyrics are not in English. However, anyone and everyone can enjoy the high quality soundtrack of this amazing film-definitely a great album to add to the collection!

Flaw: Short version of Rouge no Dengon
Love, love, love this soundtrack - one major flaw: Rouge No Dengon is a shortened version (basically limited to what you can hear in the movie itself.)
