This is a really well made hood and the material is thick. It’s also very soft and comfortable to wear and definitely protects my face from the cold. There are two reasons why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. The first reason is because even though this hood is fantastic it really doesn’t work if you want to wear sunglasses. I wear this hood when I walk my dog in the cold and use the face shield. Since my mouth is covered, my breath fogs up my glasses, even if I’m breathing very lightly. It’s super annoying! I have tested this with ski goggles and it works great because they suctions around my face, but I’m not gonna walk around my neighborhood wearing ski goggles lolThe second reason is because I feel like they didn’t handle the stretchy cord on the side of the hood very well. When you want to pull the hood tight the elastic just sticks straight out on the side of your head, it looks really stupid.Even with all that said, I still love this hood, I just wanted to post about the sunglasses because I hadn’t seen anyone else mention that.

This balaclava is very much as described. Use is pretty straightforward. When I put it on, there was an odd smell. I aired it out for 2 days, and the odd smell dissapated. The mouth/nose mask was not as secure as I would have desired, but is just adequate. I really only plan to use this when/if there is a heavy snowstorm, and I need to shovel. I'll wear snow goggles and this balaclava to shield my head and face from the wind and snow. So, for me, this is a specialty headgear. From my examination of the product, it should suffice.Dinged the rating because of the odd smell. Moderate level of recommendation. If it holds up well, and keeps my head, face warm during use, I'll add this information in an update.

Bought this to help keep the cold Illinois winters at bay. While I sometimes ski, I bought this specifically with running the snowblower. I clear several drives in the neighborhood, Mine, and several widows. Last year picked up a slight frostbite on one of our coldest days of the winter. Dr. informs me that this will happen again unless I insulate! Do believe that this will help keep the nose, ears, and the rest of the head warm. Already bought the insulated boots and more!

Great on cold windy days, especially hiking. Long below the neck so acts like a scarf as well as keeping your head and ears warm. And it blocks the wind perfectly.

I cannot use this with sunglasses as the airflow goes right under the lense and fogs them up IMMEDIATELY whether they are cold or warm doesn't seem to matter. The GOOD: Its warm, comfy and goes under my jacket. Will wear this for a few winters as the quality seems very nice.
