La Grande Galette French Butter Cookies (no Tin Box)

The cookies are delish. I usually get them at Costco. They unfortunately have not had them for a while. The PROBLEM with ordering them from AMAZON is that many of them get broken during delivery!

I love these butter cookies and like to have them on hand to pair with a luscious cup of tea or coffee - especially if someone stops over unexpectedly. I’m sure it takes great care to ship them all the way from France to the US and I’m not surprised when a package or two has a broken cookie. However the package from this shipment EVERY SINGLE COOKIE was broken and I don’t mean a crack here or there- totally broken. As in ‘I can’t even serve this and it’s a chore to eat’! So disappointing. I think this demonstrates an AMAZON issue. I do not know where the damage occurred. If the package was that damaged when they received it they certainly should not have shipped it out to me. And if it was damaged because if the way they chose to package it to me then they need to train their staff better when shipping delicate items like this!! It’s beyond the return window. So I’ll deal with it, but I hope this information gets back to AMAZON. (Stars are due to how the shipment arrived. Not the taste. These cookies are fantastic!)

When shopping at Costco this year during Christmastime I saw these cookies on display but did not buy them thinking we already had enough sweets in the house for the holidays to choke a horse. Much to our surprise, a package arrived from my sister-in-law who lives across the country from us and within it was a tin of these cookies with her highest recommendation. Once we devoured the last ones from her shipment, I decided to restock the supply and our order arrived very quickly. I wish I had a use for the tins once they are emptied as they are very nice, but I cannot think of a good way to reuse them. We experienced no broken cookies in our order despite a lack of protective packaging. Maybe we lucked out in the unbroken cookie experience because we live really close to an Amazon fulfillment center which means light handling. We love the taste of these cookies primarily because they are not too sweet. We also love how they are wrapped three to a pack for better long term freshness. I predict we'll continue to order them from Amazon all year and should Costco carry them next Christmas I will pick up some tins there. Thank you, Amazon, for being my back up!

The cookies are, of course, delicious, however they arrived in pieces. The inside box was marked fragile but was put into another box with lots of bubble wrap but without any such markings so I'm sure got thrown around in travel. Since I bought these for myself it wasn't a problem, but if I had bought them for someone else I would've been a little disappointed.

When you can’t get them at Costco go to Amazon. Awesome cookies . 4 cookies in a pack, 5 packs in a box. Great gift of a packet with 2 tea bags for a friend or someone sick.

I actually bought this to replace the box I devoured from my Mom's pantry when I was housesitting. Completely light and addicting! Not too sweet, but perfectly balanced. Really hits the spot.

Great cookies. My family loves them.
