Burrows through the wood
This drill bit has a screw like point in the middle so it pulls the bit into the wood. But it's best to hold it back so it completely chews up the wood before moving on.

Ripped through the softwood with an impact driver. Much better than the cheaper one I started out with. Still sharp.
