A very moving story of the evil of the Catholic Church and evil nuns the strength and spirt of the family were never broken glad suzy got to live a happy life in the end

Wow! I really enjoyed reading this book. The abuse from the nuns was criminal.I’m glad they finally left the orphanage and it’s abuse. Great read.

I didn't find this book interesting that I gave up after a few chapters

This book was a harrowing read in parts and an eye opener as to care, or lack of it, that went on in these catholic childcare institutions.The author was very brave to put what happened to her & her family on paper. I presume she would have relived the horrors as she recalled it all.

This book is enlightening in a historical sense, but I found it very hard to engage in. The book is repetitive and seems to breathe negativity. While I understand the traumas the author went through, it comes off more as a therapeutic exercise as opposed to an educational novel about the occurrences in children homes of the day.

10 out of 10 for this boo,k and the author, I couldn't put it down . being a victim of the nuns at the Catholic school I went to as a child I know exactly what they were like ,caning and ridiculing you for absolutely nothing .I hated them with a vengeance but at least I managed to leave that school age nine to go to a better one without the evil nuns .I can't imagine what it must have been like for you and your sisters and brothers .

Whilst the content of the story is interesting, I keep finding that statements or parts of the story are repeated several times

Very well written, so sad and absolutely unbelievable what this family went through and how cruel the nuns were, it has played a lot on my mind ever since reading it and hope this never happens again.
