The Life and Legends of Calamity Jane: Volume 29 (The Oklahoma Western Biographies) Paperback – Import, 30 January 2021

After watching Deadwood. I really wanted to learn about the characters of the show. I've read numerous books on other western figures, but never Martha Jane Canary.This book is well written, and researched. And provides a fascinating insight into Jane's life. Both real, and myth.A great read.

I used this book for a research assignment. The author did an amazing job creating a factual book with real pictures. It was easy to read and very informative.

Calamity was my great grandfather's first cousin so I have done my share of research and reading on her and I will have to say the Mr. Etulain has done a great job in capturing a picture Martha Canary that most authors have missed. I would have like to have a more complete biography of her with the actual newspaper articles and even the false stories by others so that the reader in the end can make up their own mind about the mysteries surrounding this infamous cousin of mine. Overall he does a great job showing all sides of this remarkable historical figure and this would be a great addition to any ones collection.

I found this book to be very well researched with new information not found before on Calamity Jane and I felt the author was also being objective on a subject that can be controversial. Also a good read. Very pleased with it.

I’m not a fan of the author but I gave this one a try. Very informative but bland.
