I got the smaller one andvit is roomy. Itcwould depend how big your journals are but it has three sections with a lot of room.

Q: Can I wash it in the washing machine?

No they do not recommend washing it or drying it, but they suggest wiping off any dirt or spills

Q: Can this fit into an average high school/middle school locker?

It should. My daughter teaches high school. She says that’s the size the students use. I believe the measurements are down below in the detailed description of the product.
