Being the IT go-to-guy of the family a relative asked me to transfer about 20 decades-old VHS tapes to DVD. I have a not-too-recently-manufactured Sharp DV-RW340 DVD/VHS player with dubbing capacity. However, I discovered that none of my blank R or RW DVDs would work. I discovered through an Internet investigation that the dubbing process was exacting about the required DVD format. It had to be 4X DVD-R. Nothing else would work. These Princo DVDs were the ticket. Only one disc failed the dubbing (not a bad batting average for the typical stack of consumer grade DVDs).

Getting hard to find these 4X. just what I needed.

It's hard to find a DVD that will record on my old Sharp VCR/DVD recorder. This is about the only one left on the market that will do it.

I love my Humax Tivo DVR because it has a DVD recorder. You can copy shows on the TIVO then burn them to a disc. However, it is finicky about the discs it will copy. These are about the only ones I have found that work well. I don't know if its the slow speed or what. These discs are reserved for TIVO recordings. Shows copied (or burned to the disc) play well on all TVs. The white surface works great for handwritten labels with a sharpie. It is not slick like some discs where the writing seems as though it could rub off. No problem here.

I've an older DVD recorder that can't work with the newer faster disks. These disks it is very happy with and I am burning my old video tapes onto them for safe keeping. You might not want to buy these if your DVD burner is less than 5 years old as they're slow.

I have an older Sylvania DVD/VCR combo, same as the Magnavox/Emerson/Funai/etc. units, that only work with 4X speed discs. So frustrating to fid! These Princo Discs work a Treat! ;) Burned a dozen movies, & t.v. shows already, finalized them with no issues! You can even monitor them while recording, and manually pause it through the commercials! Definitely a repeat buy if, & when needed ! :)

I have an old DVD recorder that only takes 4x. I have bought these DVDS before and have had no problem.
