Is the shaft and bit steel or plastic?

The shaft and bit are steel. There is a plastic sheath, that slides over the the steel shaft, used to hold a screw on the bit. The plastic sheath has a molded end towards the handle to help your thumb operate the sheath.

I assume the #2 Screw holder, will hold 2-56 Machine screw; but will it hold a 6-32 or 832?

I would not assume it will hold a 2-56. I will probably hold screws 6-32 and larger

This is the best pocket screwdriver I have ever used. I'm a journeyman mechanic/electrician of 20 yes. I have used a lot of different brands, this is the only one that the tip outlasted the rubber grip. Lasted about 2 yrs. Usually the tip twists or breaks with all the other brands I've tried, and I've tried many. And for the price, that's a no-brainer for me. That's why I'm back.

Where has this tool been?

Where has this tool been? I have wanted something like this tool since the first time I had to turn a screw on an electrical outlet or switch. You know the screw that is half Phillips and half straight. Whether I used a Phillips screwdriver or a flat screwdriver it kept slipping out. This Klein screwdriver has the exact screw pattern as the electrical screw head AND has a boot you push/slide around the screw. One exception, if the screw head is very shallow/doesn’t have much to dig into, the screwdriver will not hold so well. But hey, that’s understandable to me. Nothings perfect and this is a solid tool, saving me time on every outlet and switch.
