A long-time staple I finally bought in bulk
I’ve used Dr. Bronner’s sugar soap for years and finally decided to buy the large jug — and I’m glad I did. It has a silky feel, cleans well, and doesn’t leave skin feeling stripped or dry. What I really love is how multipurpose it is. We use it for hand washing, body washing, and even as a gentle shampoo. It’s hydrating, non-toxic, and easy to use daily without overthinking ingredients. A little truly goes a long way, which makes the larger size especially worth it. It’s one of those simple, reliable products that earns its place in the house because it works for so many things.

Read the instructions; use Dr. Bonner's rinse at a minimum.
I think reviews involving personal care products need to remind readers everyone has a different body chemistry and what might work for one may not for another. Having said that, if you decide to try Dr. Bonner's products, it is very important you read the instructions and follow them. If the product you purchase recommends a companion Dr. Bonner product, I strongly urge you to get it as well. These products seem to be designed to work well together. Also, having tried 3 commercial hair conditioners, they do not necessarily play well with this soap when used as a shampoo. I've always had skin sensitivities to detergents, shampoo, conditioners, soap, etc, since I was an infant. However, about 10 years ago, it blossomed into a full blown allergy. Then about 3 years ago, I also developed an allergy to any products (not just personal care products) which contained perfumes of any kind. My sister brought me a bottle of "Dr. Bronner's Organic Baby Unscented Sugar Soap" to try, having been told it could be used on my hair as well. It worked exceptionally well, but left my hair feeling unpleasant in a number of ways. (Note: NO perfume scents of any kind.) After reading a lot of reviews, I also purchased "Dr. Bonner's Hair Conditioner Rinse - Citrus" and "Dr. Bonner's Organic Hair Creme - Peppermint". I carefully followed the instructions and have found both products do exactly as promised, leaving my hair manageable, clean and nice to the touch. If anything, I think my scalp has even improved in that I no longer see as much flaking. (And for those interested, I've tried every conceivable product designed for scalp itchiness, flakiness, etc. -- none had any effect and most made the problem worse.) I will admit, I was loath to spend more money on a product which didn't state it was scent free. However, these scents don't appear to be artificial and peppermint (the hair creme) and citrus (rinse) not only don't bother me, they even have a nice scent. If I were to guess, though, the scent doesn't last long, since none of my 3 grand daughters (who live with us) have said anything -- they are generally the first to notice because of their concern about my allergies. The basic instructions are to: 1) wash your hair and rinse with water; 2) mix 1 capful of the hair rinse with 8 oz water and pour slowly over your hair to remove your soap/shampoo; 3) towel dry and add hair creme. My steps are a bit more, only because I like to wash my hair twice. (It's a baby boomer thing, folks.) 1) wash my hair with a glycerin soap; 2) wash my hair with Dr. Bonner's baby soap; rinse with water, squeeze out water; 3) rinse my hair with diluted (see above) Dr. Bonner's hair rinse; 4) gently towel dry; 5) using a very, very small amount of hair creme spread across my palms, I gently rub it into a section of hair and repeat for each section. I then use a comb to help evenly disperse the creme. Note: Near as I can tell, I can use either just the glycerin bar soap or just Dr. Bonner's baby soap provided I finish with his rinse and creme. I continue to use the glycerin soap for the first wash because it's quite inexpensive at my local dollar store. I actually prefer Dr. Bonner's baby soap as a shampoo (easier to use), but since I wash my hair twice, this is solely a means to control expenditures. My only complaint: hair cleaning now takes me considerably longer than it did before ... 10 minutes vs 1-2 minutes.

Smells good enough to eat..
I'm a big fan of Dr. Bronner's products. I just got done with a gallon sized Dr. Bronner's Citrus scented and decided to try something new. I've never seen or heard of this flavor Organic Sugar Soap, but man is it by far the best of their lineup. The Lemongrass/lime scent is heavenly. I highly recommend this product as I use it as body soap and shampoo.

Great soap for handwashing even if expensive.
I love this for hand soap and have used it in my house for years. It is super expensive, but it has the best balance of getting the grime off but not drying out your hands, and smelling good. It does tend to gunk up my hand soap dispensers but they are easily flushed out with hot water every month or so. Just wish it was cheaper!

A guy with medium length hair's perspective
Probably one of the few guys (with medium length hair) who uses Dr. Bronner's products... so here goes: Pros: -Dr. Bronner's is an INCREDIBLE company. Environmentally, socially, financially responsible through and through. Legit fair trade, seriously organic, no one gets paid more than 5 times another (amazing considering that most CEOs nowadays make hundreds times what their factory floor workers do), employees get 100% free healthcare, and they give like a third of their profits back to charity (beyond their free trade projects, which, among other things, support peaceful Palestinian/Israeli coexistence and medical equipment for hospitals in Sri Lanka). If corporations were actually people, Dr. Bronner's would be Gandhi (and I should know, I'm Indian :P) -I've never gotten so many compliments on my hair! So soft, so shiny (not greasy though), so healthy and strong...Not only that, but after using this and the conditioning rinse and leave-in conditioner, I can just run my hands through my hair to style it almost any which way I please! Do you know how much time that saves me in the morning? Now I don't feel so guilty when pressing snooze 3x. -Love the strong smell of the soap when showering :) ahhh...tea tree...peppermint...so refreshing Cons -still experimenting on how much/little to use of each product. Right now, might be using too much shampoo, because hair becomes parched if I don't use the leave-in conditioner. -Price. Originally used the soap on body too, but after not seeing a noticeable difference over my Dove bar, decided to save it for just the hair. -Though the soap smells wonderful, it doesn't last on your hair (like my hair doesn't smell like peppermint or tea trees--do those actually exist?? I don't think tea leaves grow on trees, I always imagined them growing in bushes). Anyways... I suspect my hair actually smells a bit more like some oil (for all my desi folks out there, kinda like Ayurvedic medicine). I say "suspect" because I don't smell it on a day to day basis, and no one has told me my hair stinks, but if I am hot and/or sweaty, sometimes I smell it. -for the citrus conditioning rinse, be careful, because it really stings if you get it in your eyes or on open cuts. Also, the smell of citrus and whatever oils they use is, frankly, nauseating in the shower. Citrus and that oil smell do not mix Dr. Bronner, nuh uh, not at all. Also, not a fan of having to dilute the rinse on my own before use. First world problems, I know, but I'd appreciate it if it came pre-diluted, and preferably at the same consistency as the soap (instead of having the viscosity of water, which is harder to work through your hair). Sorry for the novella. TL;DR: love the company and the results, not such a big fan of the price or the slight oily smell--but that's what you get for all-natural. Also, for guys, cut back ALOT on what they tell you to use. Peace! ~A Dr. Bronner's lifetime customer P.s. If you know the product, this is just a very large quantity.
If you're familiar with this product from prior use, this is the same stuff you buy at the store, only this is a particularly large quantity. If you're not familiar with the product, probably better to start with a smaller bottle, and if you like it, then use the smaller bottle in the shower and refill it with this large container. If you're in love with the smell of peppermint and its feel well washing, this will probably become one of your favorite things, as it has for many people like me. I can still remember the girl who introduced it to me.

Tingly feeling
The product is great, but the pump on my bottle arrived broken. Could have been because it was delivered to the wrong address, then who knows what happened between then and when someone dropped it off to my porch. The seller provided great service resolving that. The fragrance is minty and gives a tingly feeling. I recommend it.

Great but a bit high in price.
This is honestly the bed body wash I’ve ever used. Just wish it was the same price as in the stores like Whole Foods ($27.00 CDN)
