Edge of the seat thriller
Completely thriller and engaging, the start was awesome but felt somewhat slow the end of the part 1 was an adrenaline rush. The way in which every twists revealed was really awesome.

Not even to see what terrible thing he has done
A very impressive psychological thriller. The story is narrated for three POVs. The main character Jenna Gray, the lead detective Inspector Ray Stevens and a man named Ian Peterson. The story begins with hit-and-run accident of a five-year-old boy Jacob on a foggy rainy day. I cringed at this moment and every moment this scene was played in the mother's memory. A five year old is hit by a fast moving car emerging suddenly from nowhere and the driver doesn't stop. Not even to see what terrible thing he has done, what has happened and to call for an ambulance. When the detective with his team comes to the accident scene all evidence have erased out due to rain. They do not have any clue to continue their investigation. Jenna's live is scattered in a split-second. The only way to re-make her world is to walk away from everything. It's more than a year and there is no progress in the hit-and-run case. Inspector Ray is forced to close this case. Jenna meets Patrick, a veterinarian. And she find little happiness for having someone who cares for her. But she doesn't want to make him so close, as she has a secret which she cannot risk.Ray with his team consisting for detective Kate and Stumpy continue working in this case un-officially.In the beginning the story is very slow. And I felt like losing interest in it. Almost 100 pages into the book and there was no twist or interesting turn. But I think that's normal as in real the police cases takes time to solve.Inspector Ray is struggling to make a balance in his professional and personal life. His wife is struggling growing up two children and the eldest son is having trouble at school. The twist comes in part two, when the police knock at Jenna's door to arrest her for hit-and-run case. The story becomes thrilling from here with all twists and turns. The story unfolds. Jenna declares herself guilty for the hit-and-run case. But Inspector Ray is suspicious. He feels there is something Jenna is hiding. There is more to her story. The case cannot be so simple. And here comes the role of Ian Peterson, the fear factor in Jenna's life. I really didn't see this coming. After all who is responsible for Jocob's accident? How is Jacob's mother related to Jenna? It's hard to believe this is Clare Mackintosh's debut novel. Anyone who loves family life, reality, detective work, mystery and psychological thrillers will love this.

I would have loved some background story on the characters actually involved
I have mixed feelings about this book. The story took time to build up, and I thought that there was so much insight into the lives of characters who didn't even matter in the end!!....I would have loved some background story on the characters actually involved. By saying this, the plot was really good. One of the quick reads. I am looking forward to reading her other books, Mackintosh holds a lot of promise as an author.

Good read
Well I'm not a 100% satisfied with the quality of the book. But based on it's content, I bought it thinking it was a really intelligent and twist filled investigation into a hit and run case but that's just a tiny part of the book and the investigation is not very detailed either. It's focus is on the life of the narrator after the hit and run. The stunning and we'll executed twist at the half way mark grabbed my attention (though a bit close towards the reveal I kind of had an idea about what was coming) and then it drifts a bit again and there's a couple more twists at the climax but it couldn't replicate the effect of that twist at the half way mark, much like Gone Girl.

What a page turner!
I let you go by Clare Mackintosh was one of those books that pulls you in from the first chapter. Its an addictive and wonderfully layered thriller that is suspenseful and a satisfying psychological read. One of the best book I have read in 2016. Love the concept. This book is really a page-turner. While reading this, I smiled, I cried and at the time when I finished this book, I was emotional.I was shocked when i finished the First Chapter. Very well written. Looking forward to get a copy of "I See You". Hope that I'd like that one as well.If you guys are planning to read this, go ahead. You will love this book and enjoy it as well.

Clever thriller about a mysterious woman and the hunt for a killer of a boy in a hit and run
At its center, this is a story about a woman running away from her previous life. I will discuss only a few main plot points to avoid giving away too much. Jenna Gray has rented a spare cottage in a small Welsh town. She's timid and doesn't interact with many people, just her landlord and a woman at a local shop. Jenna is a sculptor, and the privacy the cottage affords appeals to her. She acquires a dog and soon has a canine companion who accompanies her on walks on the beach. She meets the local veterinarian and keeps him at a distance for reasons only known to her. This, of course, only makes the man more interested in getting to know her.Detective Inspector Ray Stevens and a rookie are working on a case with few results. Stevens is drawn to the younger Kate, his partner because she's someone he can talk to easily and knows the score around the office. The case they have been assigned is of a young boy killed in a hit-and-run right in front of his mother. Stevens and Kate give the boy's mother assurances that they will find the killer, but they have had months with no leads. They have been officially pulled off the case. In private, they decide to continue investigating the boy's death. The extra hours Stevens is putting in make his wife Mags, a former detective constable, unhappy. Especially since those hours are spent with an attractive younger woman. Stevens's home life with his wife and kids begins to suffer. Finally, the extra work the detectives, have put in begins to pay off. They find a witness who describes a car being driven erratically near the area where the boy was killed. They focus on locating the car. Meanwhile, they learn that the police liaison assigned to the boy's mother has fallen short of keeping contact with her. She has left her apartment and has moved away. No one knows where she is. Stevens and Kate are relieved to be reassigned to the case, which has been reactivated with the new information. The only problem is now they have a killer to catch and a mother who's gone missing. The author has written a psychological thriller that may seem to point to certain apparent facts to some readers but turns things around as the story unfolds. The novel is even more interesting because the author is a former policewoman. She knows the way the police work. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and recommend it to mystery and thriller readers.

Really well written, captivated from the first page
I really enjoyed this book. It was well written. The characters were described in detail so you got the picture of how they thought and who they were as people. They felt real. I could imagine the beach and the little secluded house. I thought the story was very interesting all the way through, and I was surprised by the ending. It all pieced together wonderfully. I would read another of her books again if they are as good as this one.

A Twisty, Compelling, Great Read
Was not expecting the mid-way twist. Or how I'd constantly revise and review my feelings about the key incident - right up to the final few pages. Loved it.

One of the best thrillers I’ve ever read.
Brilliant. Couldn’t put it down. Much better than other hyped thrillers by Tana French and Lisa Jewel etc. If you’ve read and liked Paula Hawkins’ ‘The Girl on the Train,’ which was excellent, you’ll like this too.

Twists incríveis, excelente leitura!
Trama muito bem escrita, personagens envolventes e leitura bem forte e profunda.Totalmente recomendo! Mas possui cenas bem violentas, que não são para qualquer um.
