Q: how big is the tambourine - what does it measure across?

Approx 8" across from middle of black handle out to the tip of the middle round symbol. 20 silver symbol sets going around. Approx 8 7/8 from the top end to end where the hand is placed. Middle is a plastic handle with finger groves on the inside which is 3 1/2 across black handle. 4 tiny phillips screws holding the black handle on. It is a smaller version but still sounds great for the price for the kids they play it is church just fine. Sometimes the adults like to play if there hands fit. It is not a heavy duty more expensive and or made for a professional.

Q: Is the purple actually purple or pink ?

I don't know about this pink one I bought red, blue, and black.

This is a good product. The sound that is created is not a cheat thingy sound. It sounds like a cymbal. The adult version is a little heavy, but the sound is magnificent!! Especially when praising the Lord.
