there may or may not be sellers that have "reproduction" model storage(fuel) cans for sale for your Pre-1970s Jeeps/Military vehicle's... ive been known to confused and grab the reproduction units. they also are top notch quality cans. put them side by side with these and its hard if not impossible to tell the difference, just saying

Yes I think it is safe. I have the red one and I am driving with it into the Death Valley in summer where it has 120F. I had no issues. You only have to take care when you open it. Gasoline fumes blow out with high speed. Keep your head away from the closure when you open it.

In my opinion, color only delays how quickly it absorbs heat. So no matter what color, the sun will heat them up. Just understand that these are sealed containers and do not have vents. I've had many people at my mechanics shop mount them in the bed. I would say that they would be best to keep extra fuel with you and use them for every fill-up so that the fuel doesn't go bad. I used these for diesel so I didn't have to worry so much, but I would believe that gas needs more attention.

I am not happy with the product as I have not received the spout for dispensing. It has become merely a storage can. For a 20 L can without a spout attachment it is merely impossible to fill up my bike or car even by using a funnel as lot of fuel leaks through the wide mouth. I would not recommend this product as attachments not available as depicted.
