It works really well
Saying it works really well is actually kind of an understatement. Not only does this product prevent fires, it does it better than expected. I watched the videos, but was still skeptical, so I put it through my own battery of tests. The packaging is well constructed. It comes in easy to use 1 pound bags. Mix one pound with 1 gallon and you're good to go. The electronic sprayer was a great addition. I could have used a regular Hudson sprayer, but with the electronic one I didn't have to stop every few minutes to pump. The mixture feels silky. I didn't intend to get it on my hands, but I didn't wear gloves or anything. No harmful effects on my skin. I just washed it off with some soap and water. It felt like there was still a bit of silkiness on my hands, which actually bodes well for usuing this even if it is going to rain. With another soapy washing or two, it came off no problem.I set up a couple of test areas. I used a piece of plywood, a pile of leaves, a pile of dried grass and some newspaper. I thoroughly sprayed one-half of each test item and let it dry. I then used my map gas (the yellow can--sorry if I called it the wrong thing) and lit the untreated side in every instance except the newspaper the fire just stopped when it got to the treated side. It definitely slowed on the newspaper, but I don't think I sprayed it enough so there were sufficient untreated spots within the treated area that it was not as effective. But for the wood, leaves and grass, it was like the treated area was protected under a sheet of glass.I suspect Komodo deprives the fuel of oxygen. Even trying to light the treated material directly (as opposed to letting the untreated side burn to the treated side) did not result in a fire.I can't wait to mix the rest of this up and use on my family's property. We are diligent about maintaing at least 100' of clearance around the house. This will help and may even make the job easier. I will still cut dry grass as low as possible, but now I'll add Komodo as dual protection. Why isn't Cal-Fire and PG&E using this already? I think Smoky the Bear should add Komodo Fire Retardant to the list of things that can prevent forest fires.

Makes me feel safe and provides protection from fires
I bought this product because it is easy to use. It stops fires from starting. It puts out fires. It is safe to use. It doesn't harm plants or humans or animals (dogs, cats, rabbits, deer). The pack that I bought was easy to put together and easy to use. It was ready to use when I put a few pieces together.I got it because we live near a river in Sacramento. From time to time people will start campfires along the river and they spread. I didn't want my house to catch fire from the campfire embers. With all the fires in my area. I am recommending that my friends on ranchettes and farms or anyone who lives in a rural area buy a DIY kit and use it. Better to be safe than sorry.I know a couple of firefighters and a Fire Chief who have seen Komodo work. I also know that this will help protect lives and people.I know thUsing a garden hose with water running through it to protect my house and property doesn't stop the house from catching fire or burning. I know Komodo in a sprayer or in a garden hose will protect my house and help me keep the items that insurance payments can never replace. It is simple to me. If I am willing to protect my house from pests why not do something easy, simple, and safe to protect my house and property from fire.

KOMODO Advanced Fire Protection / Home Perimeter Shield is absolutely amazing!
We purchased the KOMODO fire prevention / protection DIY kit because of the continued wildfire danger exacerbated by the extreme drought here in California. Our neighborhood was under a wildfire evacuation alert last summer… and this year, the extremely dry conditions on the hills surrounding our neighborhood are even worse… hence our purchase of the KOMODO fire prevention / protection kit.The KOMODO Fire Systems’ product labels and website states that their KOMODO Perimeter Shield product is the “Ultimate Fire Protection” and backs their claim with a host of demonstration videos that appear to validate their product’s efficacy. While most companies exaggerate the effectiveness of their products without any tangible proof, that is not the case with KOMODO. We were delightfully surprised and equally impressed (actually we were downright astonished) with our results using the KOMODO fire prevention / protection DIY kit.We carefully followed the manufacturer’s instructions in setting up the DIY kit’s battery-powered sprayer unit (need to fully charge the battery first) as well as mixing the KOMODO dry powder compound in water. Once the KOMODO solution was mixed and loaded into the sprayer unit, we experimented with various adjustments to the sprayer wand to ensure a wide spray and thorough coating of the KOMODO solution on our redwood fencing and shrubs surrounding our property. We also coated a couple of old redwood fence boards and some dry foliage cuttings in order to test the KOMODO fire-retardant effectiveness. After the KOMODO solution had dried on our “test” materials, we attempted to ignite the coated dry foliage cuttings in our backyard barbecue kettle. Amazingly enough, the dry foliage treated with KOMODO would NOT ignite! We placed one of the KOMODO treated redwood fence boards into our barbecue kettle and tried to set it on fire… all to no avail. We even tried placing some dry cardboard scraps under the treated foliage cuttings and fence boards to help start the fire… and only the untreated cardboard scraps would burn. Bottom line is that this KOMODO stuff REALLY WORKS! We couldn’t believe it!KOMODO Fire System’s website also makes some substantial claims regarding the fire extinguishing (suppression) capabilities of their KOMODO solution, so we experimented with that as well. We loaded up our barbecue kettle with a bunch of dry eucalyptus leaves, brittle twigs, and pine needles from our backyard that were not treated with KOMODO… and we safely set it all on fire. The dry foliage cuttings, eucalyptus leaves, twigs, and pine needles quickly burst into flames, engulfing our entire barbecue kettle. We sprayed the flaming kettle with the KOMODO solution from the DIY kit’s backpack sprayer unit (actually it’s just a thin mist that is dispersed from the nozzle on the sprayer wand), and the flames were immediately extinguished with just a couple passes of the sprayer wand over the barbecue kettle. Absolutely AMAZING! KOMODO certainly appears to be the real deal! (Even though we were genuinely impressed with ability of the KOMODO solution to quickly extinguish the fire in our barbecue kettle, we do not think that the DIY kit's backpack sprayer unit is suitable for suppressing large structure or brush fires... as the backpack unit only holds about 5 gallons of the KOMODO solution.)We give KOMODO five stars across the board! We believe it deserves ten stars… and if you need to establish a defensible fire protection space around your home and property (without the need to constantly cut and trim the shrubs, grasses, and dry foliage and haul it all away), KOMODO is your answer. Above all else, this KOMODO stuff is apparently certified as non-toxic and 100% environmentally friendly… which is a game changer for us! We will be ordering a lot more KOMODO compound in the future. (They even included a wonderful surprise in the box of KOMODO supplies.) Kudos to KOMODO Fire Systems for a job well done!
