what does this come with?

It comes with everything you need but you need a major magnifying glass to read the manual. The only thing I had trouble with was changing the volume. It seems to be too high or too low and I finally reached volume nirvana after yelling at the device. :)

Can you create playlists on device

Yes, select the music icon, then select all songs, then select shuffle all. When you find a song you want, click the up arrow 3 times, click on add to playlist, select playlist on the go & select yes. This takes time & patience because you have to do this for every song you select.
