*FYI, this train set fits perfectly on the IKEA wooden train tracks if you have those.This Rosie at the Sodor County Fair set is a great way to add interest to the Thomas world. I was able to get it on sale so that helps. It's also nice to see a female train character as my 3 1/2 year old daughter is obsessed with Thomas right now but only wants the 'girl trains' from the newer t.v. show. So she loved both the Rosie train and the little pony! It's so cute! The neck bends down so it can eat the apples from the box or pretend to drink water. The fence pieces can be used around the horse or turned upside down for horse jumping like in the video description, so that adds an extra way to play. We also took the cardboard backdrop out of the box to use as a play scene background. We used it to make an enclosure for the pony with the 2 fences and the apple box. The apple box has a magnet on top but we don't have a crane character to lift it out of the cargo car yet.Rosie's cargo car is made of a composite material, plastic with wood chips in it, so it looks really cool, almost like a confetti print. The back hatch of the cargo car folds down for loading and unloading the apple box or the horse, so that adds another interactive dimension to this set. It all seems very sturdy and well made and should last through rough play for years to come. Older brother always joins in train play when the set comes out so the 2 of them really put these toys to work!The Rosie train is really nicely made and sturdy and she looks very friendly & festive. The plain wood parts on this train might be a little less colourful than the traditional solid paint trains but in my opinion it gives it a more rustic, classic look and will also be more resistant to the inevitable chipping off of the paint. The corners/edges/tops of all of our other Thomas trains have been chipped away over the years so this one to me seems like a better idea to prevent it from looking so rough over time. If you give kids a choice they will pick the solid colour trains but I don't think they care either way once the train set is all laid out. My daughter watched the Thomas show holding her new Rosie train and it had to go to bed with her (beside the bed) so it's a hit for sure!

My son isnt a fan of the new wooden trains because he asks why is it missing paint. Why didnt they paint the whole train. Wooden rosie is one thing wanted for Christmas & I hope I made a great choice. This is packaged very nice and it will be easy to wrap under the tree. Its alot bigger than I expected. I highly recommend. Any thomas fan is going to love having this in their collection.
