Worked like a charm!
I went through the process to pair the remote to my Xi5 motor. Did not hear a low tone, pressed the left/right arrows but heard nothing. Remote worked anyway so my theory is it was already paired? The bottom line is it controls the trolling motor.

Worked two months
Bought this in November when I got my boat serviced. I paired it and all was good. Started fish the last two weeks of April and a couple of weeks in May. Went to use it in June and it would not work properly. Changed the batteries and repaired it. Made the trolling motor work erratic. The remote was stored in a dry location when not in use. Wish I had waited to buy it during fishing season so I could have returned it.I bought a generic cheaper remote and it is working like a charm. I guess I wasted $143.00.

Direct replacement for xi3
This product was shipped in a Atwood box and believe it was from Amazon. Amazon shipped quickly and no complaints there. I will say that these remotes fail quickly. Purchased my Motorguide XI3 in 2020 for around $1400. The motor and remote were used around 5 times in the next two years as I had family items to attend to and didn't fish. The remote was left inside and the batteries removed. This season I began seriously fising again. After two trips I began having issues with the remote not turning the motor after spot locking and it trashing batteries with minimal use.Motorguide is own by a another company and was zero help. I was told to purchase a new remote at full price or pay 300 plus to fix the trolling motor control board (3 plus hour treks to service centers). Of course the motor and remote was out of warranty. Online forums revealed that motorguide knew of remote and control board problems but still sipped units and stick customers with the cost. Note that the XI models are heavy paper weights or law ornament without the remote. Nothing more frustrating than paddling back through current to the launch because your motor is trash. Luckily the existing remote is now working but I'm consistently replacing batteries. I've lost a screw from the original one and replacing these in a kayak is a pain in the ass as the design is terrible. You basically expose the PCP board in the remote to change the batteries. Not thrilled but happy that the original remote is working and I can get a replacement remote.

Good OEM replacement
Replace batteries when you get it. I have had what I thought was several issues with these remotes, it always turned out to be bad batteries. Some new batteries are only 1.1v. I now check batteries with a volt meter before putting them in. Keep a second set of batteries of what you know to be good batteries on your boat. This will save you from pulling out your hair.

Same as the original
Works as good as original, a little pricey and you would think they would make it water proof and to float.

Garbage
Don't waste you money... out of the box and can't get it to pair with my trolling motor. Money wasted.
