In a previous life I spent many years as a small engine mechanic at a motorcycle dealership. I came up in a world where I had to wait 2 weeks for parts and machine work to come in before I could rebuild an engine. Sometimes it could be a month or more. My kids have a Yerfdog Spiderbox kart with a GY6 150cc 157QMJ engine in it. We swapped the broken airbox for a clamp on filter, but the filter allows very fine "moondust" through. This just wrecked the top end. It puffed a little smoke one day and within an hour of runtime it had a huge cloud. I ordered this top end kit and hoped for the best.It arrived in 2 or 3 days and was a complete kit. I was able to rebuild the entire top end from start to finish in one day including taking the valves out, replacing with the included seals, and lapping the valves. This is assuming you have a c-clamp style valve spring compressor. If you do not have one, they are about $25 on Amazon and stupid easy to use. Make sure you also have a small magnetic pickup tool grab the keepers. I did not replace the head since it was still in great shape. The kids have several hours on the top end now with no smoke. For $30, you can't go wrong. You could rebuild the top end every year at this price if you wanted to.Comparing my extensive experience with Japanese motorcycle engines to these Chinese engines I am struggling to find a reason to hate on them. They are cheap, effective, and mechanically simple. Air cooled engines avoid water cooling system issues. The valves are easily adjustable tappet screws instead of shim under bucket. CV carbs instead of mechanical slides for easy tuning. While not the most high performance models, if you are looking for a machine for your kids that is easy to work on and cheap to maintain with readily available parts, these GY6 based machines are pretty top notch.I will throw in a shout out to these old Yerfdog Spiderbox models that can be had for under $1000. The company is out of business but there is a huge support system out there where you can buy heavy duty and high performance replacement parts if you wanted to, but you can also go cheap with parts like this and still have fun. In the end, I think that having fun while staying within your budget is what most people want.

For how cheap it is I was skeptical about it. But after the install ( very easy install) and running compression test. ( about 130psi) I also put a new carb on for good measure. This gy6 motor runs amazing now, starts very easy and no smoke. I do recommend a new timing chain, timing chain tension, oil pump and oil pump chain. I was doing a rebuild on a low hr motor and both chains were stretched pretty good compared to the new ones.

The metal is good dense quality & very well packaged.I had no problems installing it & the rings mated to the cylinder nicely in only a few easy rides. I'll definitely buy another come time .
