Lucky: A Novel (inspired by Taylor Swift’s folklore and the incredible true story of Rebekah Harkness)

Interesting in every way! 5 stars.
Kristina Parro's impeccable writing style grips you from the prologue itself. The story of how the writer was a healthcare worker during early pandemic and how she got the inspiration for the book is truly inspirational. The book follows themes of philosophy, history, mathematics and much more which has been beautifully blended with the story of Rebekah Harkness and Rhea Harmonia. The parallels between these womens' lives are very interesting to read. Plus the book has really beautiful illustrations at the beginning of each chapter which bring the characters to life. Good to know that this is the author's debut novel, looking forward to reading more of her work. I enjoyed reading the book and highly reccomend it (especially to all the Taylor Swift fans!)

Our World is Made of Perception: Believing in Yourself is the Most Important Thing
LUCKY is the most original and inventive novel I have ever read. The gifted young author's passion for history, philosophy, mythology, math, poetry and music shines from every page, and it seems to fuel her visionary writing style. The headline I chose for my review is a sentence from the book, and one that I feel encapsulates the cautionary, yet hopeful tale. The two fascinating main characters are separated by time, but connected by the similar trajectories of each woman's life quest to obtain the American dream. In the deft hands of the author, protagonists Rhea Harmonia and Rebekah Harkness are realistic, multi-dimensional, and relatable. Pleasing illustrations enhance the novel's sometimes fairytale-like charm. Get LUCKY by adding this amazing read to the top of your tbr stack.

Highly recommend this excellent debut novel
Book Review: Lucky by Kristina ParroI love this book! It has many layers and spans generations, weaving Ancient Greek mythology with modern day pop music and the pursuit of love, happiness, and the American Dream. The chapters alternate between present day Rhea Harmonia, a teen pop star, and the story of Rebecca Harkness, the Standard Oil heiress who eventually live in the same home in Rhode Island.Following each woman’s rise and fall through fame, fortune, and heartbreak, Parro asks the question do all stories end in tragedy? The stories alone make for great reading, but Parro goes deeper, leading the reader to question the protagonists’ intentions and motivations. As the character Rae Harmonia is based on Taylor Swift, fans of Taylor will love it.In addition, Parro’s detailed research and insights encourage the reader to delve more deeply into their own experiences too. Brilliant use of research and insights about fame, perception, and being a public figure, both in the past and present.I highly recommend Lucky.

Debut Novelist
Lucky is the story about two women, whose lives are connected by a house in Rhode Island. These women are from two different eras. The first is Rebekah Harkness. Her story is told from the early 1900s into the 1980s. The second is Rae Harmonia, pop superstar and global legend. Her story is present time. Both of these women’s lives show a constant struggle and search for happiness. Is money, fame, fortune, attention the key to true happiness?.This story is inspired by @taylorswift album Folktale. Specifically it was inspired by the song “Last Great America Dynasty”. Parro gives strong likeness to her characters to their real life inspirers (Swift and Harkness). Swifties will enjoy Easter eggs found within the story that they will know elude to Taylor herself. There are also other popular pop culture references within the story as well including mentions of Hamilton..Bravo to @kristinaparrowrites first published writing! As a huge Taylor Swift fan, I could not wait to dive right into to this book and bought it immediately on release day. Kristina is also one of the sweetest humans! She is such a down to earth author, who truly loves to interact with her readers. I encourage you to read this novel if you are a Swiftie fan like myself. I also hope that @taylorswift herself will get her hands on this book!! I know Kristina is a huge Swiftie herself! I look forward to following Kristina on her writing journal and reading more books by her. This is only the beginning! 💜

Leaves much to be desired.
Unfortunately, the author's debut novel reads very much like a first time attempt at writing.I'm a big Taylor Swift fan and was curious to know more about the home she shares in common with the Standard Oil heiress, but this was disappointing and confusing.
