Great book
Very informative

from the perspective of a glassblower
While this book does have photographs of a variety of Seguso's glass, it focuses mainly on his sculptural work (birds, etc.). It doesn't adequately illustrate the variety of innovative techniques that he explored with filigrana cane - there are a few photos of his vases, but that's about the extent of it. The photographs are lackluster as well - there are distracting reflections of the surroundings in the glass, some of the photos are slightly blurry, and many of the pictures are taken with the glass sitting on tree branches and such (and I won't go into the 25 photos on two pages of the same octopus "playing on the beach".) In addition, many of the pieces selected for photography are quite similar, so there isn't a good representation of a cross-section of his output. All in all, if you're a glassblower and have never seen Archimede Seguso's work, this might be worth it, but there are many other books about glass that illustrate a wider range of his technical accomplishments. I'm sending my copy back.

Excellent guide and source for Italian art glass!
We collect Italian glass and have found this book an excellent source for determining which type of glass we have. I have actually found some of my pieces in this book. It's a super reference guide!

Leslie Pinas books on Italian Glass are a valuable resourse for the collector and students of mid-century Italian Glass. I have learned a great deal about identifying glass from this era thanks to Pinas books!Don Gonzalez
