Great Investment! BUY IT!!!
I bought this generator running cover for my Westinghouse iGen 5000DFc in hopes of prolonging it’s life. I only use the generator to run a couple of essential circuits during outages, but those always come with bad weather, so again, I want to protect my investment. So, the putting together of this tent is pretty straight forward, but also has a couple of trip hazards. The key is to carefully read the instructions. Something that most of us hate to do. IT WILL PROBABLY TAKE AN EXTRA PAIR OF HANDS WHEN MOUNTING THE STRAP that wraps around the generator. While I did not have any problems with the installation, I did want to verify it with GenTent support. They quickly returned my email, verified my install, and offered to respond to any further questions. While the cover does seem a little pricey, it is of high quality, and offers a lot of functionality. A well thought out product overall. It fits well, offers great protection, and durability.

Great Product - you can make it easier to assemble.
The GentTent is a well-made product, and my version is for an enclosed inverter generator. (Westinghouse iGen4500DF dual fuel only ever run on propane). I spent some time 'practicing' with it and trying things out. Her's what's I found missing in the manual. On my generator the grommets at the front and back are different heights. The front to back and side to side measurements are different. You also need a tape measure to set the arms up. However, if you take one of the frame rods and some tape or a marker you can mark the rod and use it as a yardstick. Mine is marked at 6 1/2" ground to grommet for the front, 7 1/2" ground to grommet at the back, 24" for the side to side (23 to 25") and 35" for the front to back (34-36). So, I can assemble the frame without finding a tape measure. Also to help, I put some tape on the corners of the generator at the top of the grommets. If you are inclined and are sure of the locations, you can use marker instead. I've not yet tested this in the rain. I also laminated (waterproof!!!) a copy of the manual page 12 (layout sizes) and a diagram of the front panel of my generator as it is hidden when the GenTent is deployed. However, on my generator most controls are easily accessible by lifting the top flap/cover and peering down without opening the skirt. I'recommend the GenTent for anyone with a generator they need to run in the rain. PS their customer service is excellent too. They messaged to ensure I had the correct version and offered assistance in the setting up. SteveD

Good but not perfect
Good: nice quality cover/tarp that will keep your generator dry and out of the elements. Does what it is designed to do once set up and looks nice. Should handle all types of wet weather. Bad: the set up. Kind of a complex process the first time that you do it. Requires measurements which is nice for the flexibility between multiple size generators but can be an issue when setting up in the moment. If camping it’s done but if it’s more of an emergency and setting up for an outage, would prefer something that just snapped in place more easily. Once it is set up it’s hard to maneuver my generator with the cover on since you no longer have access to the handles.

Well made and worth the money
I bought this to protect my inverter generator. I have not put it to the test yet, but it seems very solid.

Storage Bag and Correct Size
Overall, the product itself is thick quality water-repellent material, but the plastic arm attachments and stem rods seem a little flimsy. Not sure how they will hold up in high winds as claimed. For the price a storage bag should have been included, or at the least offered as a bonus gift from inside the product box. If not a storage bag, then the clear vinyl apron should have been included w/purchase. I really wanted the clear apron but only found out after purchase that was not what came with the tent. It is also prudent that you order the right sized tent as there are three sizes and I didn't pay attention to that so mine is stretched tight over my generator.

Has survived a lot over 2 years
Purchased over two years ago, installed on an inverter generator that stays outside year round. Has endured two Cape Cod Massachusetts winters (we are near the water with high winds all winter long), including 60+ mph winds at times. It has never blown off, always stayed snug since setting up two years ago. My only complaint after two years is that the straps have lost their "stretch" and I've had to resort to tying each in a knot to keep them snug. I'm not sure if they developed these for 24/7 year-round use, but this solution works great. I can keep the tent on and still extend the handle and move the generator if needed. I also want to give a shout-out to the customer support. I broke one of the plastic pieces on installation, and they gave me "don't do it like that" advice and sent me a replacement.

does a great job!
This is the second Gentent we have purchased as we got a new generator. These are amazing and work fantastic and protect all the electrical plugs etc. Instructions were clear, a little hard to put on with one person. Would highly recommend.

Housse parfaite
J'ai une Duccar 8500 inverter et la housse est vraiment facile à installer et de bonne qualité! Je prenais une chance en achetant d'une boite déjà ouverte et inspecté à moindre coût et tout était parfait!

A really great cover!
I am using this on my Briggs & Stratton inverter generator. I have had this running in 40mph winds on the bow of my boat and it worked great. I ran into a small problem, contacted GenTent and they resolved everything immediately - no hassle. I highly recommend this product.

Worth it. Tried DIY and this is just better.
Well I finally broke down and fronted the money for a properly engineered dome to cover my inverter generator. I was trying to look up other ways to DIY but after doing one for a smaller unit years back, I realized the cost would be about the same and having to put everything together with no guarantee that it would hold. Basically it does fit nicely. The instructions could have been a bit clearly for the framing portion. But after that it is very straight forward. And like someone else said on here, don't wait for a rain storm to assemble this. I found that it covers nicely but I just wish they would have at least two panel flaps to have it hang a bit lower and to prevent sideways rain, snow. (Reason for only 4 stars) I ended up buying a second flap from the manufacturer directly just before they sent out the order. It was only an extra 9.99 usd as opposed to 47$ from some sellers on here. The material is of good quality. They answer your questions immediately mon to Friday with their online support. At first it might not seem worth it, but if you want to protect your investment and mitigate the risk of getting electrocuted then I say go with this. Also, this looks really good. Doesn't look like crap sitting on your property. It actually cuts the noise down by 2 to 3 dB.

GenTent shields against winter weather
Nova Scotia has a lot of windy, rainy weather and snow. So I needed a solution to use my generator outside during power failures when weather is harsh. Purchased the GenTent standard black to protect my investment on my Honda inverter generator. Pleased with the quality and installation was easy thanks to the videos on the GenTent website. Easy to remove and place back on. Now I’m prepared in the event of emergencies and have peace of mind I can use my generator in any weather.
