Invoca 3 Voice Activated Remote

There are better options, if you can find them
This remote is just okay. It works my TV and Blu-ray, but not AT&T u verse/Motorola box. It remembers up to 50 voice commands. It does a good job in general, and that is really worthwhile, but it randomly turns the TV off out of the blue. It may be picking up the voices from the TV. I turned the remote sensitivity down but that didn't make any difference. It's odd that this specific function is the ONLY thing that randomly happens, nothing else, so maybe it's not random TV noises?? There is a much better option that RCA makes (actually used to make, it appears they have recently stopped making it.). It is sold out on Amazon, but I found it on eB*y. It is still listed on the RCA website so you can get the owners manual for it. It only holds 25 voice commands, but I paid less for it and the recognition software is MUCH better. If you can find it, get this one. It does not work all of the AT&T u - verse box functions, but it is enough that I can get by with it. There is also a remote called ' surfboard' listed here. If you try to buy it, you are directed to go to the manufacturers website. I can't give any information on it, but if it is AT LEAST as good as this one, it would be worth trying instead of this one.

Stressful work in progress
At this point it's hard for me to give a good review so let's say this is subject to change! I finally had an opportunity to work with this device last weekend and thus far, after 3 hours, I THINK it recognizes the TV it is to operate! All flashing light say yes and it turned the TV off; however, it would not turn the TV back on. So I've not gotten to advance to the voice programming portion. After so long a time getting this far, I was too stressed to continue. This was bought for my Mother who is blind so I will attempt to continue as soon as I have additional time.

Disappointed.
The macros function and voice activated commands were very promising as a way to help my elderly and now mostly blind father to make changes on his television, cable and DVD player. However, it was simply impossible to get the device to sync with his devices, so it was useless and had to be returned. If somebody knows of an updated model that can actually do what this remote promises in the manual I would buy it immediately.Disappointed.

difficult to set up and use
I purchased this for my dad who has limited or no use of his hands. He has a newer Westinghouse TV. The code in the manual did not work. We had to use "auto search mode" to find the right setting. That in itself is not a problem. However the manual is poorly written and difficult to use. So a simple procedure became a difficult one.We found the voice recognition to be finicky. He was unable to activate the device's commands because his voice is low. I could do it however. Still it did not meet the requirement I bought it for. I will play with it at home some to see if I can fine tune it so it more sensitive to commands. That is once I figure out what the damn manual is saying. As a post script, product support is not reachable. You just get a fast busy all the time. Probably out of business or they have their phone off the hook.

Waste of time and my money
Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with this purchase and had to return it. Not only did it not work, even if it did work on top of that did not receive instructions on how to use it. Since my son is now a quadriplegic we were hoping it would work out. Then when I got my refund I only got a portion of the money back not the amount I purchased, plus had to pay shipping. Big loss for a product I purchased that didn't work in the first place and then having no instructions too? It was such a bad experience I probably will never order from Amazon again. It's a joke. Never again!Mom with the quadriplegic sonOh and by the way Amazon the only reason I gave you a star was for allowing me to send this review..😟

Works under the BEST circumstances
Simply put, the remote works only under the most ideal circumstances. The voice recognition does work, but oddly enough not with the added noise coming from the television or practically anybody else talking in the room. I purchased this for my grandmother for Christmas so that she (technically challenged) could easily command the TV to change input characteristics (e.g. cable box to DVD to VCR) easily. Unfortunately now I will have to find another gift to replace this one...

Very sensitive to spoken words.
Product worked as described, but the commands spoken to do things like turn the volume up/down or change the channel must be articulated EXACTLY as you recorded them when setting the unit up in order for it to recognize and execute the word. I purchased this for my dad (85 years old) and he really had trouble with this. He would become angry when it didn't pick up the command word he spoke the first time, so he'd repeat the command word louder or "angrier", which, off course, REALLY failed to register with the device. So he got frustrated with it and told me to get rid of it. It helps to have musical training, and thus an awareness of things like pitch and tempo when articulating command words.

Too hard to train.
This remote is HUGE. Just incredibly unwieldy. The voice command functions are difficult to train and even after, it doesn't always understand you. The fact that you have to say "Commander" to alert the remote that you're speaking should explain how ridiculous the concept is.
