Heavy duty prosumer product at price point.
Let me start this review with an engineers rant about about choice of material vs design. People in the market for a grinder worry far too much about metal vs plastic gears. First of, neither all plastics nor metals are created equal. For example, in many applications quality nylon, poly carbonate or whatever is vastly supperior to mystery chinese cast metal. Secondly, as long as design and dimensioning is appropriate for the material choice, even a weak material will work for the intended purpose. I've had my grinder for several years now. Its processed well over 20 big game animals, much of it poorly trimmed sinewy meat and well over freezing temperature (worst case scenario for a grinder). The output is perfect and the rest of our processing line is nowhere near able to keep up with it. Looking at this device its quite clear it was produced by a designer that makes professional meat grinders for a living who was tasked to make a more affordable unit that would only produce maybe a thousand pounds of meat a season rather than a thousand pounds of meat a day at a professional locker. It uses nylon gears, cheap aluminum cast for the housing and screw and only quality stainless where it really matters: the knife and the plate. The motor is an ancient twentieth century brushed design that stinks of ozone when fired up. Everything is ridiculously overbuilt and there is no way anything will strip on a properly manufactured and assembled device. It is big and clunky, super noisy, and the parts, while super easy to clean manually, are not dish washer safe, but for seasonal use i feel the savings are totally worth it over a pro-grade device. On a final note, the most common problem with any grinder is clogging due to sinew build-up around the knife. This can happen due to poor knife/plate alignment or because they've become dull, but will quickly be an issue even on a quality device with sharp edges if not assembled right. A grinder cuts by shearing the material between the knife edge and the holes in the plate, similar to a scissor, and just a like a scissor the fit between mating surfaces needs to be tight. As such, when tightening down the aluminum head, don't be shy. There is a happy medium, but better a little on the tight side - practice makes perfect :)

Perfect for processing at home
This grinder is perfect! We process 2-3 deer each year, and our old hand grinder was a nightmare. A friend suggested this one, and he was right. It's fast, easy to use, and easy to clean. It does the job well.

Great Product for great price
Works great! This is the perfect size and price for beginner meat grinding. It is loud as other people mentioned, but I didn't really expect that a machine that grinds meat would be quiet... We used this grind venison and it worked as expected. It took longer to clean all the parts and pieces than to actually grind the meat.

Great product and Great price
We had one for years and it broke. We thought we would try a different brand and a more expensive brand. BUT we sent back the other brand and just ordered this one again. For making dog food and processing one deer or one elk per year is perfect!! Great quality and worked perfect!

Works Great! Definitely Recommend!
I've been using this to process deer meat for a couple years now and this grinder has worked awesome over that time with no issues. Lost count on how many deer I ran through it.

A little workhorse for the price, perfect for the "occasional" butcher!
Worked perfectly for the grinding portion of the deer I got this season. I no longer have to worry about burning out my wife's KitchenAid mixer!

Great Buy
This thing really punches above its weight class. I was able to double grind half a deer in less than 20 minutes without it overheating. Its small enough to fit under my cabinets, which is great since I'm an a small apartment and space is a premium. It assembles quickly and easily each time I need it and breaks down just as fast for easy cleaning.

Quit Buying Ground Mystery Meat
I grew up on grocery store ground beef. When I got older I thought I was feeding my family better when I bought premium ground or 90/10 or 95/5. The next time your grocery store puts some big roast on sale cheap, buy a few and grind them. You will be eating better than anything you get in the ground beef section at any price. Store ground beef is the offcuts the butcher didn't want on whatever he was trimming. There are times I see a 3 lb. eye of round under $5.00/lb. If I do buy one, I usually buy something else to grind with it because its too lean. I get good beef, no sinew or gristle, and I control how much fat goes in. You will taste the difference. Try a burger with 50% ground pork loin. Super lean, super delicious, even less expensive than beef. Its rare that I do the partially freezing of the meat part that a lot of people recommend. I just haven't seen much of a difference than just refrigerator cold. Grinding store bought beef, pork, and the occasional chicken is all I grind, I'm not a hunter. Whether you're grinding 3 lbs. or 10 lbs., the time it takes isn't much different. Set up and clean up time is the same. I can go from setup to clean up (including washing grinder parts) in 15 minutes taking my time. The LEM grinder is louder than any other kitchen appliance I have but its not so loud it hurts your ears and you easily run around 2 lbs. a minute so its not on long. I usually grind once or twice a month. Worried about the non-metal parts? I previously had the KitchenAid made attachment for its mixers. Go see how much plastic is on that one (I think they make a metal one now.) I did eventually crack that one but that was after years of use and it still worked. After that I wanted a dedicated grinder and I'm glad I chose this one. Grind your own, you'll be glad you did.

Satisfied
This is our first meat grinder. We got this because of the low quality of ground meat in stores. We now ground our own good quality meat. This grinder has been up to the mark, a bit loud but doesn’t really bother.

Funciona genial!
Lo usamos para moler pechuga de pollo deshuesada y sin piel y funciona muy bien. Sin ningún problema y fácil de limpiar. Muy rapido. Esta máquina no maneja huesos, por lo que si necesita eso, considere un producto LEM más costoso.

Pretty good little grinder
This did an excellent job grinding pork for sausages. Worked best with meat cut into strips and almost frozen. But did very well with smaller bits that were just cold. It put my Kitchen-Aid grinder attachment to shame. I have not tried the sausage making attachments for it yet but I will update this review when that happens.
