The media could not be loaded. I am a certified mercery master technician and have been for 25 plus years.I went against my better judgement and bought this cheaper cable. I installed it in a clients boat and took it to the ramp to make shift adjustments and the cable snapped at the boat ramp. Do not buy this cable.

china straight cut pipe thread(not taperes) s means it will not screw in far enough to allow movement to reverse.... CABLE INSERT FITS SO LOOSE INSIDE CABLE... SOMETIMES IT WILL BUNCH UP AND NOT PROVIDE FORWRD EITHER

Bought this because I was in a time crunch. Wish I’d just waited. Inner cable is too thin. The solid end of the cable (pictured) makes it impossible to feed it back into the outer sheath once installed in the boat. The rest of the cable is super thin compared to oem as well. Threw it away

I purchased this lower shift cable for my 1997 Sea Ray 185 bowrider with 4.3 Mercruiser and Alpha 1 Gen 2 sterndrive. The only issue that I had, which was easily overcome, was that pulling the inner cable out from the outer sheath was a bit difficult. The end of the cable that fits into the shift plate had a slightly flared crimp from the cable to the solid rod. Once I fit this into the sheath with some gentle persuasion, the inner cable slid through the outer sheath easily. I have tested the assembled cable and find it to be very smooth. Will install this on my boat tomorrow and will update this review if anything goes wrong. If not, this gets a solid 4-star review. Adequate quality, excellent price, and fast shipping.

Don't normally write reviews but this is the 2nd cable I have put on my boat. The first cable I thought it was just possibly a manufacturer issue returned and got another one and the same issue it's to short.Due to short timing with the plans we had I was able to make it work.Intill this past weekend. The brass clamp and cable itself completely broke free from the each other leaving me stuck in reverse in the water. Don't be cheap buy the quicksilver.

Great price point and fits my boat as described. No fussing with the cables.

Cable broke after a couple hours. Then the lower cam. Had to pull the boat out 2 times and take the drive unit out 3 times. Garbage like this can and will kill someone.

Parfait!

This cable has incorrect threading on the fitting that screws into the gimbal. I have purchased and installed 3 of these with no issue but this one is not the same as previously supplied.
