Ami Ami Dogs: Seriously Cute Crochet

Doggies!
I haven't completed a Schnauzer yet (no time) but I have confidence I will be able to figure it out from the directions (make sure you read the patterns through first so you get the correct flow of the patterns on the pages). I have a friend on Facebook who makes all sorts of dogs and they are just incredible - she adds loops, cuts them, then brushes the yarn to make it look like real fur. I am currently working through the steps to make the miniature schnauzer and once I sort of knocked the rust off of my crocheting skills, I am finding the instructions easy to follow. The color photos and instructions for creating the different stitches are very helpful, but they are arranged in a kind of strange way.I figured it out after staring at the pictures and the charts. It is more chart than instructions, so if you like following charts than this will be great for you. If you like clear written instructions then you may have a little trouble with the patterns. There is also a pattern in the back for a cardboard and felt doghouse.

Nice book, adorable puppies!
I haven't made any of these cuties yet, but my grandchildren have already placed their orders for which ones they want! There are lots of pictures and stitch diagrams that look easy to follow. Very pleased.Update 10/18/19: I started making one of the pups and noticed that the author often refers to the crocheting as "knitting". Don't get confused - these are all crocheted! Also something to know is that she uses diagrams and charts as her directions. Make sure to refer to both the diagram and the chart when making the item.

My favorite now
The patterns and techniques took a lot of getting used to, but I have made every dog in this book, some several times. I always took pictures of the diagrams and enlarged them so I could follow more easily. They are great gifts, especially at graduation when I added a hat and rolled money under their chin, collar. My only problem is sewing the pieces together, wish there were more tips and tricks on this. I am a novice crocheter, taught myself.

Ami Ami Dogs: Seriously Cute Crochet
I became aware of this book after reading an article in a current issue of Bark! magazine that discussed the book and provided a link to a download of a sample instruction set. This book contains instructions to create some very cute dogs! I am currently working through the steps to make the miniature schnauzer and once I sort of knocked the rust off of my crocheting skills, I am finding the instructions easy to follow. The color photos and instructions for creating the different stitches are very helpful, but they are arranged in a kind of strange way. I expected the steps to run across and down the left page and then across and down the right page, but these instructions run all the way across both the left and right pages and then down the page. After I figured that out, everything came together fine. The only other little "quirk" is that the author uses the term "knitting" to mean "crocheting" in several places, but it's of little consequence since I understood the book to be about making a crocheted dog. I would recommend this book to any one who has even a basic understanding of how to crochet and is looking to make some really adorable little gifts for someone!

Great Book with Amazing & Cute Dogs to Crochet!!
The patterns in this book are the cutest! I'm not a very experienced crocheter, so the round stitch illustrations were kind of confusing until I got the hang of them. I've seen some of her photos where I thought it was an actual dog until I looked again more closely! She was inspired by this book - so you can take these patterns and run with them, making unique, individualized dogs of all sorts!

Enjoyed making the crafts in this book
I didn't know if I'd be able to make the dogs in this book. I am a beginner crocheter so didn't think I could read the patterns. But the pictures were so cute I thought it would be fun to buy the book just for the dog pics. I also bought The Complete Idiot's Guide to Amigurumi so I'd have some backup directions.I was able to read and follow the directions simply from this book. Made the Pug dog but in different colors so it looks like a different breed.Just to let you know that a complete idiot crochet-er like me could follow the directions. Hint - start with the Shiba Inu for the most complete directions and photos.

Maybe not for beginners?
Torn between 3 and 4 stars. I am a complete beginner. I figured out how to stitch the head and was pretty proud of myself. Then I tried the muzzle which was a slightly different pattern and it was a fail. Little by little I have figured it all out. It's certainly a challenge for beginners but the end product is worth the time.

This is another adorable animal crochet book
This is another adorable animal crochet book. This book came with book two and is in excellent condition ensuring enjoyable crocheting time for my friend this winter. Thank you for making these craft books available. The animals are so small and adorable that it makes me wish I crocheted rather than cross stitched. To each their own and these make a perfect Chanukah gift for her, but others may like it under their Christmas tree! A must for those who like to crochet.F

Cute but not sure it is worth buying.
The dogs in this crochet pattern book are really cute, however there are really only two basic patterns and those are varied by colour of yarn or different features to get the different looking dogs.I have a pattern for one of the dogs in a crochet magazine too, so I probably didn't need the book. The book refers to knitting quite often, makes me think that a knitting book has been adapted to be a crochet book here.I haven't tried making any of the dogs yet so I can't comment on the ease of following the pattern, I will update this review when I do.I also bought book 2, which might be a waste of money as again the patterns are the same.

Great for all..
Even thou I have not made any yet the book has great pictures of each dog. You can either use the grid pattern or the pictures when making. This book is brilliant, it is well thought out. I would highly recommend this book even if you are new to either crocheting or amigurumi just take your time read completely first and then take your time when making don't forget it has pictures to show you how.

Quick to make and very cute
I was pleasantly surprised at how quick the pattern I chose was to make, once I had worked out the unfamiliar layout of the charts. Already made two. The recipients were thrilled.

Love this book
Love this book. Got it especially to make one of the animals as a gift. The instructions are beautiful - very graphic and I love the way it shows you how the size of the finished dog is affected by the thickness of the yarn that you use. Really clear and very easy to follow if you are just starting out on animagrami
