Barmah Hats Canvas Drover Hat 1057BE / 1057KH / 1057BR / 1057BL Khaki/Large AD

I've got a few challenges when it comes to having my skin burned by the sun: My heritage is Irish/Norwegian, so my ancestors adapted to seeing the sun on special occasions only; I shave my head so there's a lot of skin to scorch; and I spend a large amount of time outdoors in the summer sun. I wanted a hat that shaded me on the sides and back as well as in the front, didn't make me look like a total doofus, wasn't hot and fit well. I also wanted one that was made in the USA. This hat fits the bill nicely, and although I still think I kinda look like a doofus I can't honestly blame that on the hat. Any breeze flows through the mesh and is cooling while still shading my scalp from the sun. The brim goes all the way around. The hat is very light and it fits well. They send a hatband pad to decrease the size of the hat if you need that, which is a very nice 'extra' to have when buying a hat online. It's a great hat!

I Really like this hat! I also really appreciate the way it was packed and shipped to avoid crushing it!! Being bald, I need something that offers protection and breathes well in the summer heat. I've always liked the Aussie Style of hats and get lots of compliments from them. The sizes however, run a bit larger than the size chart says. I wear 7⅛' and according to the chart, "Large" is my size, and it's too loose. That's why normally like to try on Hats. The reason I gave it only 4 stars is the sweat band is too narrow at only ¾" wide. Most hats use 1¼" for more comfort and wind resistance to hold on. Put a wider sweat band in it and Barmah will have a 5 star hat, my opinion. But the quality is great, with nice braded leather band! I love that it's made in the USA, too, and the price point is reasonable! I highly recommend if you like a well ventilated hat for heat.

I have been using this hat probably 3 to 5 days a week on sunny (and sometimes rainy) days on my 70 acre farm in North Carolina since purchasing it in 2018. I figured it was time for a review. The hat gets plenty of abuse and has held up extremely well. I love the great ventilation and the broad brim. The sizing is true to size and I can wear the hat for hours and not have "hat fatigue". It's a lot of hat for the money and I only have one minor issue. The grommets(?) in the brim are rusty (see pics) and I'm concerned at some point they will disintegrate. Knowing the grommets are exposed to the elements and sweat, I'm surprised they aren't made from brass, stainless steel, or other non rusting metal. Overall, I have been very pleased.

I like these hats a lot, I've bought over 5 of them! But, in my line of work the wire gets bent out of wack. I've been trying to reach out to Barmah about this, but to no avail. I just want tips to fix the wire, it's getting wonky! Also, keep in mind! The hat WILL shrink a bit if it's in the elements. I usually go for an M, but I'm going to age my L hat and see where that gets me
