A person who gives this razor a bad review is likely influenced by the blades that come with it. These blades are not very good. I was skeptical when viewing this and seen the price, but gave it a try. It turns out to be far better than I could have hoped for. It is supposedly brass, but I can't confirm that without scratching into the finish. I can say it is heavy and seems well made. All parts appear to fit with excellent tolerances. One thing I really like is it is wide enough to cover the tabs on the sides of the razor blade. Now for a word of caution. This has an aggressive blade exposure. So, if you are new to DE wet shave you will want to be careful. Use the slightest touch and let the weight of the razor do the work. If this is in fact all brass it frustrates me that popular brand names can't produce this quality of a DE and not be so expensive (everyone uses the crappy zinc alloy heads that break if you drop them and still charge more than they are worth). About the fact that it's made in China: we need to get over this mentality too as we live in a global economy. The single edge safety blade is better for your shave and better for the environment, and this razor has turned out to be one of my favorites I've ever used. So far I'm very happy with this razor and would recommend.

I decided to buy a 2nd safety razor, as I like my Merkur a lot, but the price went up quite a bit since I bought it. I thought this would be a solid substitute since it looks very similar, but they're nothing alike. My Merkur I can shave with my eyes closed and pretty much have to try to make it cut myself. I've even used it to shave with just straight water and it actually wasn't too bad.This razor on the other hand terrifies me. The blade is nearly straight out not supported like the Merkur, I gave it a try and I can feel the blade trying to cut me unless I hold it at the perfect angle. The Merkur is extremely forgiving and can cut right down to the skin. This provides the same shave as the Merkur, but with the added fear that I'm going to injure myself. 3 stars since it does work and some people might like that? For me, I need to return this and buy another Merkur.

This razor gives an amazing shave but it has a bite. This razor is pretty aggressive, the shave is very smooth and clean but if you have sensitive skin it might bite ya. It has done a number on my neck but I’m trying pre shave and sensitive soap to compensate this issue. I enjoy this razor but it might have to much of a bite for me.

A good heavy razor. Razor head covers the blade end tabs and is on the milder side of shaving. Definitely not an aggressive razor, very comfortable.

Completely fell in love with this razor! I used to always get bumps when I shaved and with this razor it completely stopped happening!

I've used classic razors like this in the past and had a better shave. I got cut twice using this. Slight nicks but nicks none the less. I think I'll stick with my disposable 4 blade & electric foil shavers. They are safer. Also, no instructions came with the razor for loading it. It's very simple but still if someone has not used a razor like this before there should be instructions. Handling the blade in the wrong way can cause a cut. 3 stars
