Wow! Not Your Average Travel Book
I'm planning a trip to Japan, actually returning after 40 years. Excited but trying to decide where to go. I've purchased three other books, two are decent, the third was so so. Then I saw this one. The maps are an excellent planning tools. This book approaches travel in a way that allows the traveler to customize the plan instead of steering people to the usual places. I bought the soft copy, it's notoverly bulky, content is augmented w/ QR codes. This IS the book I needed.

General Info About Japan
I had wanted more detailed information but it was good enough as an overview which I thought I could’ve gotten just researching myself online.

The kindle version cannot display the texts at all
The kindle version (iPad, iPhone, Android) cannot display the texts at all. Please see the my screenshots (from my iPhone and my iPad, all from English/Spanish IOS). Probably I should first bring this to a customer representative. But it will take me too much time and hassle. So let me just post the problem as a low score rating here, as this itself is a legit review anyways. Hope this can serve as a lesson to the creator of this kindle version so that they can do their job right in the first place.

Terrible, do not buy kindle edition
The kindle edition is terrible. Unable to set page markers, full pages do not upload the 1st timer around. The content is also somehow disappointing, so general and not enough insights.

I find the usual Lonely Planet guides overwhelming - too much information cluttered onto each page. This book is lovely. Easy to read, nicer pages, lots of info. There is also a pull out map that is A3 sized. If you need specific info on hotels etc, you'll still want the usual Lonely Planet book to compliment this one.
