Great pocket stone!!!
Love this stone, it is small, watch fingers if you're going to hold it your hand to use, case doubles as a strop, while you can get a good edge that is shaving sharp, this won't replace your bench stone or sharpening system, requires no oil or water but I wouldn't say not to use any. Definitely a good buy. Dc4 may be an inch longer and a little wider, but for pocket knives, can't beat this one, fits right in your pocket

Great backpacking-size sharpener for razor-sharp blades
I'm really liking this little sharpener after first use on two different knives. It put an amazing edge on my Helle knife in no time flat, and also worked really well on a much thicker Damascus blade. Follow the instructions included if you are a novice knife sharpener, as they really nail how to make quick work of sharpening with this little stone. If you have a rough edge on your knife, use the diamond side first (silvery side) to get a decent edge. Then, flip the stone over and use the ceramic side to really dial in that razor-sharp edge. Hold your angles steady always when sharpening for an even edge to your blades.Great size for backpacking, too. It's only about 1" wide by about 3.5" long, and about 1/8" thick. Even with larger blades, when you use the circular sharpening motion by holding the knife still and moving the stone instead, it's far more stable to work with.

Small
Goes in my packs so I have it to touch up some edge's, does a great job.

Better when Broken!
I didn't like this stone when I first got it. The ceramic side was too rough and the diamond side stopped working after a few uses; It sat in a kit unused for a couple years. But after a particularly hot camping trip this has turned into the best little pocket sharpener I have ever had! All I had to do was break it in half!About a year ago the diamond steel plate popped off of mine. This is apparently a known issue with the older DC4s and I guess this DC3 had the same flaw. I was all set to chuck this thing into the woods but decided that a double sided ceramic stone was still better than nothing. I used an old pocket knife and some sand paper on site to clean off the glue, (but after looking online others have learned this "hack" and recommend nail polish remover). Then, I used the diamond side to polish the other side of the ceramic to a less aggressive grit. Now I have a polishing side and the aggressive default ceramic side! I keep the diamond plate as well to maintain my polishing grit.It has to lose 1 star because I literally had to break the stone to get its true potential to come out. But if they had sold this as a "system" they could have charged me twice as much and I'd have happily paid it for what I have now. I understand why people like this little stone now; the difference is night and day. Just remember, after you get this, the first thing you gotta do? Is "break it"!

Outstanding!
Excellent value. Well designed and crafted for backpacking, go-bag or home use. Keep it in the leather slip pouch and don't lose it. Besides the obvious protection, the pouch has two other purposes: (1) rough side up works for a final razor edge, and: (2) hold the end of the pouch rough side down with your non-dominant hand's fingertips. The pouch will seve as a nonslip base to expose the whole stone's surface for sharpening (rather than having to hold down one end of the stone itself). See photo.

Fits in my wallet so I'll always have a little shapener on me
This little sharpener is great, it has an abrasive diamond coated side and a more abrasive then smooth ceramic side and that ceramic side will polish your blade right up to get it very sharp. It came in a nice little leather case and I had to cut part of the opening flaps off the leather case so when I put it in my wallet I could close my wallet because the opening flaps were right in the way of where the wallet folds, but after I cut the flaps off it fits perfectly. Now I keep my Sog access card 2.0 in on one side of my wallet with a space pen right next to it and this Fallkniven stone on the other side of my wallet. My wallet is a Bosca Double I.D. Credit Wallet and these three items fit in the two larger pockets right behind the credit card slit pockets.

Not your ordinary whetstone!
I’ve had many sharpening tools over the years with the DMT diamond cards being among my favorites. This Fallkniven whetstone is a keeper. It seems rather course at first at least for getting a razor edge but the ceramic side smooths up quickly. The thing I like best is how they made the leather case. One side is left in a raw state that allows sharpening compound to be added therefore turning it into a small strop. Very cool and useful detail. So you can take a fairly beat up edge and with this small system, considering you take advantage of the strop detail, you can bring that edge to shaving condition. Assuming you have good steel to work with. This Fallkniven whetstone is worth more than you pay and delivers much more than its size belies.

I'll be buying more! Great affordable product
This replaced the work sharp field sharpener. I've been experimenting with DMT card sharpeners to. Wish I would of got one sooner. Its smaller, much nicer to handle, cleans easy and makes blade maintenance in the field a breeze. Ive used it on 1095, AUS6 & 8 and 440c. No water or lube needed and it's small enough to throw into a tin or ranger band to the sheath. I'll be buying a couple more to say the least
