An inspiring read
I've no brewing experience, so this book is the first of its kind that I have delved into.I did find it to be an inspiring read. I Looking forward to trying some of the methods and ideas. A great insight to the brewing art and it's history.

A broad range of useful information in a notebook-sized package!
In hindsight I don't know what I was expecting other than another book on my shelf that gives overly general pointers. This book on the other hand definitely surpasses my expectations: for example it gives step by step illustrated instructions of how to build a small hop dryer including a bill of materials and online websites to source any specialty hardware, or a barley oast and even the temperatures and times roasting to get all different kinds of malts, or just even what angles to sink your hop yard end posts into the ground and an easy way to anchor the cables, etc.It also has an easy to use reference chart of hop maladies, what they mean for the hops and what you need to do to heal them. This book is definitely gift-worthy for anyone who knows someone else who is interested in giving hops or barley a go in their yard for the first time.

Everything you need, and more!
I originally bought this book because I am considering planting my own hops for homebrewing. This book gives you everything you need to know, from planting placement, to suggestions for how to give the vines something to climb if you don't have a structure, to processing afterwards, and finally common pests and how to deal with them. Very easy to understand writing and charts. Then I read on about all the other additives brewers have made over the ages, from ginger to rosemary or basically any herb that has a strong smell or flavor. I had no idea of the variety of things people pitched into beer, but I do now, and it's given me some ideas to try on my own. Highly recommended to a homebrewer who has some land to spare, and wants to take the next step beyond buying rabbit pellets at the homebrew store. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Excellent book for intermediate brewer
