Back in the 70's when singles were the rage, many of my purchases were of the 45 variety and Chaka Khan's hit "I'm Every Woman," along with the follow-up "Life is a Dance," was one of them.I recently bought the complete first solo effort by the singer and what a great discovery did I make! After being at the forefront of the group Rufus, Khan struck out on her own with a ten-song collection of pop/R & B/jazzy tunes bearing her indominable style. Helmed by legendary producer Arif Mardin, Chaka is strong yet sensitive, passionate yet forceful, sensitive along with seductive, whatever the song calls for.Highlights, besides the two chart-toppers, are "Love Has Fallen on Me," "Roll Me Through the Rushes," "Some Love," "A Woman in a Man's World," "The Message in the Middle of the Bottom," and a rousing gender-switching remake of Stevie Wonder's "I Was Made to Love Him".If any contemporary singer wants some "diva lessons," then Khan is the professor to give instruction.

I have been a fan of Chaka's since High School and I have all her albums but you cannot play an album in a cd player! I still play her albums and their is not a scratch on any of them and have had them since High School! I have a few more of the cd's to get but this was one of my very favorites next to her "Rags To Rufus" album! I loved the price and the delivery was fast! Thank you for your professionalism and for getting my merchandise here without a scratch because of your packaging!

Chaka Khan has a one of a kind sound. She is versatile singing soul, r & b & jazz music. Chaka has been vocal on her mis comings but has pushed on to greatness. She has become a role model for young children which is wonderful. She is a class act when you hear that voice you know it's Chaka Khan (Yvette Stevens) . One of Chicago's best.

Women's liberation theme song, Whitney Houston did a remake of it, she didn't change a note, but you knew it was Whitney. You shouldn't temper with perfection.

I remember when I got it, it was really sounding good, and I was surprised because of the low price. Thank you!

This is a great CD that is Classic Chaka Khan. She has a great powerful voice that delivers the notes flawlessly. I highly recommend this CD. It is a great addition to an old fan or new fan collection!

Another great classic I found on Amazon.com This is the artist's first solo recording and it certainly doesn't dissapoint. A must have for any Chaka Khan fan.

Love classic soul music and Chaka Khan is a favorite R&B artist. An excellent purchase that I will enjoy over and over.

Everything here is wonderful. How can you go wrong with Arif Mardin producing, and Chaka Khan singing? This was her first solo album, a bit more mainstream-sounding that her work with Rufus up to that point - but the opening I'm Every Woman announced that this was an album that would have a huge impact - then there's the superbly 'robotic' Life Is A Dance, a cover of Stevie Wonder's classic I was Made To Love Her, changed to Him, and made a bit funkier, although not really better ... but then that wasn't the aim, but just to get a different take to show how much music there is in a Wonder song. Some Love is the most stratospheric, The Message in the middle of the bottom the most unfathomable. Actually the follow-up album (What Cha' Gonna Do For Me) was even better, I think - but this one is more 70s, and Khan's vocals are uniquely exciting.

I suppose the Japanese idea of "used" item it's the same we concern about NEW here in Europe (especially in Italy...) Thank You again!!! FIVE STARS well deserved!

このアルバムの一曲と言えば、7曲目のSome Loveです。Steve Ferroneのうねる様な粘る様なグルーブ感でどんどん盛り上がっていきます。Chakaらしい粘っこいシャウトと相まってすばらしいノリノリ感。もちろんアルバム全体、捨て曲のない仕上がりです。

以前から８曲目の曲を聴きたくて、やっと購入でき満足してます。
