Poor product
Bought 2 of these for a new refrigerator. Received them in a box. One of them had the hard plastic packaging in a clear soft bag. When I opened it I found the item had leaked most of the red liquid into one end. That is probably why someone put it in a bag before putting it the box. So I threw that one away. I put the clips on the other one and compared it to older refrigerator thermometers I have and found it much smaller and harder to read. I will buy another brand in the future.

Seemed to work ok for one year, then fell apart
First the glass tube detached...so limped along trying to guess. Then it fell down from the casing. Put back and taped the ends shut. Now seems to have fallen out completely.Shopping again. Not pleased.

Fluid is separated into blobs
The fluid in this thermometer came as separated into blobs, and not continuous as needed for an accurate measurement. There are instructions to bang the thermometer on your palm to join the fluid, but this did not work. I tried to return the item but was initially not allowed to. After contacting Amazon, I was told that this item is normally ineligible for return per stated policy on the product page. But this information is hidden under a link that needs to be clicked.First time I've encountered this in anything I've bought off of Amazon. Fortunately, the representative approved a refund for me as an exception and I'll buy a digital thermometer instead.I suspect what's wrong is that the fluid is just ineffective for this job -- in old style thermometers mercury was used but this one is 'non toxic' -- something other than mercury. I understand getting away from mercury but what it means is to never attempt getting a fluid thermometer again. Also -- I've learned that it's very important to explicitly check the return policy on every single item I buy from now on, and not take my ability to return something for granted as I've always done in the past. But at the end of the day, Amazon made it right for me.

Good, but not Great
Bought this thermometer initially as a backup to a Cooper-Atkins unit, but am using it as my primary thermometer when the aforementioned literally fell apart. The size is good, and the hook mounts are ideal for my setup (a wire product shelf). I have a glass door on my beverage cooler, so reading it isn't an issue for me. I can, however, see how some purchasers have an issue reading it after opening their fridge/cooler, as it does form a condensation layer rather quickly, and it has a limited viewing angle (doesn't affect my setup).Due to its design, it reacts to temperature changes a bit slower than my Cooper-Atkins unit due to the thermometer itself not being in direct contact with the tube, but that's not a bad thing. My only real gripe concerning it is that it is inaccurate by -2°. Overall, worth the paid.
