I cannot say enough good things about this series, fun stories, great pictures, enough depth to keep adults engaged and willing to re-read for years to come. Highly recommend!

My son is 8 going on 9 and we have read Matty Long's books together a few times now. Really enjoy them!! Clever spoofing and celebrating fantasy genre at same time. Cute characters! If you enjoy the fantasy genre this is a great way to introduce it to your kids. You could also describe his stories as Fairy Tales with contemporary humor. We started with the picture books a couple years ago when my son was younger, and now looking forward to what Matty Long will cook up next! My son also likes the Dogman Graphic novels; I would say it is a similar style of humor. And since Matty Long's books have a lot of illustrations sprinkled throughout they are a good book for transitioning kids from picture books into chapter books.

This book was a part of a series. My 6 year old grandson absolutely loved this book.

This is Matty Long’s second young reader book and having enjoyed Humongous Fungus we looked forward to reading Portals of Panic and we were not disappointed! The illustrations are literally fantastic and the storyline is in my family’s opinion ever better than “Fungus”. Lots of jokes and clever puns for both children and adults to enjoy and a rollicking good plot as well. The story moves along at a very fast pace, there’s never a dull moment reading this book. Just hoping that there is another in the pipeline.

My children and I absolutely loved this latest addition! We love the animations and the story was great. My children want it read to them every night at the moment and they pick up on new animations/jokes every time.

My 6 year old has just finished reading this amd loved it. The illustrations are brilliant and the story entertaining and runs at a good pace. We love chompy!

My son loved this book and it has turned a reluctant 9 year old into a far better reader. He is no longer below age-related expectations for reading - yay! Half a chapter a night, read to mum instead of the boring books sent home from school. We read the Humungous Fungus prior to this and his favourite book as a toddler was Slug of Doom, which obviously helped. Thank you Matty Long :-)
