GSI Outdoors Pivot Tongs

It will help encourage me to continue my real reviews of products I've purchased.Pros: * Great Price * Lightweight * Should be high temperature for short period of time (No Flame though) * Lock Open * Interesting design * Like the slotted spoon shaped tongs with teeth for grabbing and draining food prior to serving * When folded in storage position look like you could use handle to help get toast out of toaster in kitchen * No California P65 Cancer risk warning * I would not mind these in kitchen with guests overCons: * Size and packablity limited. When folded the tongs extend past the base of orange handle. I tried using line to loop the ends closer together when folded. It does gain a small amount of space, but at the expense of stressing plastic over time. I'll probably just put some cleaning gear in the gap of the handle when folded for storage.Yes I'd buy these Tongs again. I don't know if I'll bring camping, but for the most part I really like the design; especially with how solid the tongs lock in place.Thank you for reading my review:Again Please give this review a thumbs up. Not worth the money I paid, and they have actually gone up $2 since I ordered. This is a cool concept, but ultimately isnt worth the money. The amount of room saved when folded up is not even the length of my finger, and they are bulky when collapsed. These are quite short. I couldn't imagine getting your hand anywhere near a fire with them. Obviously these aren't for open flame cooking, but they should work well in hot pans ,for the most part.I would expect these to cost closer to $3-$4 at max. I wouldn't be surprised to see a knock off version at the Dollar Store.Again, good concept, but I'd much rather carry around a metal pair with silicon ends that is longer for less money.

Used these on my last trip, and it really helped with cooking. The whole spatula/spoon thing wasn't working as well, so grabbed these. They were super helpful in the kitchen. They don't fold as compact as you would think, but they are lightweight, easy to clean, and worked great. For my overland rig, don't really care that they aren't as compact, as I have some storage room.As always, GSI gear is always good stuff, and have yet to have any issues with any of their products. Always feel confident when purchasing their gear.

I bought these along with the GSI kitchen set and it's really cool to have. The only downfall about this which I really didn't think about when I purchased it is that its plastic. So if you were to be picking up items with this on a grill or a pan and you're not careful, the plastic will melt. It hasn't happened to me during my trip because I was careful but it could happen. I do like that its compact and it folds so it could be put inside the kitchen set. Overall, its an innovative product but if they would make this out of steel or aluminum, it'd be awesome to have during camping trips!

Used the tongs on two recent camping trips. They work great on both small items (bacon pieces) and larger items (8 oz. steak). The material holds up under intense heat - no melting.

I bought these this past spring as an addition to my MSR Alpine Deluxe Kitchen set. I used them a few times this summer for camping, and these tongs have held up surprisingly well. The tongs survived being used on a cast iron griddle over a fire and on a Coleman stove. I don't think I'd trust them if there is a chance of contacting open flame though, which seems pretty obvious to me. My only complaint is that I wish they were a little more compact. The same design element that makes it so these tongs have a decently wide opening to grip your food also makes it so they are a bit on the bulky side (if you takethese backpacking). The locking mechanism is nice and tight, and they fold up short enough that I can stash them just about anywhere among my cooking gear, and they generally live inside my MSR kit.

Got this for camping to save space. While these do save space lengthwise, when folded they are pretty wide - the nature of tongs that fold up. They seem durable and will fit my Tupperware that I use for my cooking utensils.

I was a bit disappointed in these. They are shorter than I thought they would be when extended, which can be painful when cooking over a hot fire, and when folded they are only about an inch shorter than when extended, which makes the whole folding thing kind of useless. Other than that they are fine.

Great little tongs. I love everything that GSI do, they really think about the detail. I have the folding GSI spatula, spoon and tongs. They look great, are compact and make a great addition to my camp kitchen, even my adventure camp kitchen - these are a little luxury items I can’t go camping without

Got these to complement a GSI Outdoors Destination kitchen utensils kit. Sturdy, won't scratch your non-stick pans, don't melt and fold down to a tiny size. Not cheap but you get what you pay for.
