Did the job but massively overpriced!
Had to use pliers to get a tight enough grip on the stuck jack, but it did do the job it was bought for. However, doing so left the tool crushed as the main part is a very thin metal... it definitely won't last beyond a couple of uses. The build-quality definitely does not live up to the huge price (£18)... can't see any reason to buy this name brand tool over any of the cheaper generic ones available.

You'll never need one of these, because it doesn't work.
Of course it doesn't work, it's just the high price that brings a surprise. It's called a GripStick but it doesn't grip, there's no way it can grip, in fact it barley fits into the hole it's suppose to. The shaft of the tool is not inclined capture anything, there's no facility in the design for this purpose, which is why we are wasting our money.

Good idea that might work sometimes.
This is a well made little tool. However, on it's first purposeful outing it failed to remove the plug, a strip down was still required. It's definitely worth having though as it might might well work another day.

Disappointing, only works in some 3.5 mm jacks and won't fit in others at all.
I am a big fan of the IFixit message about the right to repair and saving the environment through repairs versus replacements to reduce pointless e-waste. They produce quality tools and parts for a wide range of devices and are the leading website for quality repair guides and information. This tool represents a last ditch effort in removing a broken 3.5 mm plug that is stuck in a port without opening up the device and possibly having to replace the port, which is a headache in itself. The tool is good in theory, but it doesn’t fit every device and can possibly damage an otherwise perfectly functional port as it doesn’t safely fit into every 3.5 mm sized headphone ports that I’ve tested, it worked just fine in my old MacBook Pro from 2011, although it had serious issues with the port on my surface go. Even if you do manage to get this into a port it's quite difficult to exert enough force to make it grip onto a headphone jack to remove it, you need to squeeze down on the shaft with a pair of pliers to kind of force the tube to close around the stuck jack and then pull it out gently. When this works, it's a wonderful tool, because if the only alternative is to completely disassemble a device to force the broken headphone jack out from the inside, this gripstick can literally save you hours of labour if it works. If you are a technician in for example a school that works with a lot of devices that have broken headphone jacks in devices due to careless users then this tool could be a godsend, if it fits the ports on the devices you want to use it with that is.I cannot really recommend this product given that the price is absurd, especially when you factor in that it's a bit of a coin flip on whether this will even fit into the 3.5 mm port you intend to use it with. Sure, it's amazing if you know for a fact that it will fit your device, but it's a fairly expensive gamble and will put you even further in the hole if it ends up not working by potentially making the problem worse or simply not doing anything at all.

As simple as it needs to be to solve this particular issue perfectly - well engineered.
This is almost the very definition of a niche product - but when you need something to do exactly this, clear a blockage from a headphone jack super easily - nothing else will do. It's not cheap but it is absolutely ideal and solves the exact problem well.

Pays for itself
This is an expensive tool that easily pays for itself. While initially it seems expensive for such a small tool (£21.33), it has definitely paid for itself compared to the cost of a phone repairman doing it. I would say it is a must buy!!

Expensive and tricky to use
Some time ago I bought a cheap jack to jack cable to connect my phone to my car radio aux input, unfortunately the first time I used it the tip of the plug broke off in the car socket. I have tried to remove it several times, but had failed. Then I saw this little gadget. When it arrived, I was surprised at how simple it is, especially given the price of £21.33, but I decided to see if it would get this plug tip out. It feels as though it should be quite simple to use, just push it into the socket, turn it around and pull it out together with the broken bit of plug. After about 10 attempts it finally got the offending bit of plug out, however, unfortunately when I tried to use the socket, the contacts were bent out of shape and the plug won't stay in place. Now as I hadn't used the socket before I can't say for certain whether this was caused by this tool, or if the socket was already damaged before I tried to use it, my gut feeling however is that the tool did the damage. So I can't recommend this tool as it MAY have damaged the socket, but it did get the piece of plug out.I think that I would rather spend the £20 on getting a professional to fix this sort of problem than rely on this tool.
