Not high quality, but will get the job done
I needed to repurchase all my needles again after moving to another country temporarily for work and have always liked bamboo needles. They have a nice grip and your stitches don't slip off as easily like metal needles, plus they're a lot quieter. I really liked the middle section, it has a lot of really useful tools, but I do wish the gauge ruler had a stitch and row counter like the Bates one I have at home but it's sufficient for what I needed. I really like the case, it's very useful and keeps everything together easily. Now let's talk about the needles. You can definitely tell they're not bamboo, they feel and smell like some kind of composite material, and some of them came warped and have an exaggerated curve. I tried steaming them and it didn't do much which brings me to the globs of glue that were left behind after gluing the end caps on. During the steaming process I was afraid that I would melt the glue. All in all, the needles are not very high quality but they felt sturdy and that's all that really counts. I like how the sizes are printed on side of the needles so you don't have to guess everytime. I think these would great for beginners, they are very lightweight, and the case makes this kit easy to use but you'll likely want to invest is a higher quality set of needles in the future as I can see these wearing out pretty quickly.

Problem with needle gage and no sizes on needles
The needles were fine but had no size markings on them. The gauge for sizing was incorrect, so what showed as size 6 and 7 were wrong. I had to get my regular gauge out to get the correct size. That could be a big problem for a new knitter to figure out.I probably would not recommend it to a new knitter. Correct sizes printed on the needles would help.

Adequate needles; lots to play with.
The KOKNIT 13.5" Knitting Needles Set, 36 PCS Full Smooth Bamboo Single Pointed Staight Sweater set comes in a nice zippered case that has pockets for the knitting needles on both sides and a clear, plastic zippered pouch in the middle to hold notions. There is also a small pocket on the outside you could tuck some papers or small flat thing into. There are no individual slots for the pairs of needles so I would keep each pair in its cellophane bag until you are ready to use it.There is a wide variety of your basic notions in plastic mostly- stitch markers, point protectors -2 sizes, cable needles- 3 sizes, tapestry needles- 2 sizes, row counters- 2 sizes, a measuring tape, a pair of snips, a stitch holder and a needle size gauge. They all work just fine. The needles are made of bamboo and at almost 14 inches in length are longer than you usually find. Good for projects you don't really want to use circular needles for. The sizes are etched into each needle and looks like they won't wear off quickly. The needles are all slightly warped for some reason, even the bigger sizes. I don't think that will affect your knitting but it feels a bit weird and it makes the smallest size needles feel a bit flimsy. You will need to sand the tips on some of the needles as well. A few were a little rough and one of the smallest sizes had a tiny split along the grain that could catch yarn. This isn't the highest quality of needles and notions but there is a lot to work with and the needles do have that extra length. It would make a good travel kit when you don't want to take your good needles out and about.

Great set for starters, mobile knitters, or those looking to expand their supplies
This set would be an excellent choice for someone who is just getting into knitting or someone who likes to take their knitting with them when they are out and about or travelling. It would also be a nice thing to pick up if you are looking to expand your arsenal of knitting supplies. What I like best about this set is that everything comes packaged together in a case that zips all the way open for easy access and has pouches and pockets to help keep the contents orderly when it is closed. The case itself feels sturdy and is both well padded and compact. The needles themselves represent a huge range of sizes. The diameters of many would be perfect for really fine work, including laces, while the larger sizes would work well for quicker, looser knit.Because the needles themselves are bamboo, there is some natural variation in the texture along the shafts; however, none of the ones I received had any major flaws that would prevent me from using them.Based on my experience with other carbonized needles, I also expect these to hold up well to wear and tear, resisting splintering and breaking. You also get finishing needles, cabling needles, stitch markers, point protectors, a measuring tape, thread cutting scissors, needle gage, and a stitch holder. You also get two counters, but those were the only thing I was really disappointed in; they are small and rely on dials that are hard to turn.In my opinion, if you are really into knitting and need a counter for elaborate projects, it would be worth getting a more user friendly counter at some point in time.Still, that is a minor thing.Overall, I would definitely recommend this set as a great value. If you know someone who is just getting into knitting or who likes to knit on the go, this would make a really nice gift.It would also be a great thing for an experienced knitter looking for bamboo needles to pick up in order to expand their existing collection.
