Bright little torch
Bought this for the wife over the winter months as she has a long walk from a carpark to her office. Definitely light in hand, small enough for a small handbag. The torch is super bright in it's highest setting, and the dimmer settings will prove useful when we are out camping or on our holidays. The clip is a handy anti-roll feature too. All in all a decent little torch.

Excellent edc light
Excellent edc light. Looked at similar sized/output lights of all reputable manufacturers. Kept coming back to the Archer. Very pleased with my decision to go with Thrunite. Would recommend to anyone looking to stay around its price range, awesome value. The mode switch on the body is a very nice feature to have along with the tail cap switch

The Archer 1C V2 defintely deserves 5 stars relative to its price
First, a caveat: I've only been playing with this light for a couple of days, so this review does not address its durability. I aim to update this review during the next several months if I discover any unusual wear and tear types of issues with this light. Also, just to be clear, I am reviewing the 1C V2 - not sure why Amazon is lumping reviews of the 1C V1 together with reviews of the latest model.Onto the review! This is my first ThruNite purchase and I am impressed and delighted.I wasn't sure what to expect from the new XPL-V6 emitter of this model, but the light that I received shows excellent beam quality. Notwithstanding the smooth reflector, the hot spot is well-defined and perfectly round, with very generous spill and few artifacts. I have the cool white version of this light, but the tint of the beam is mostly white, with just a hint of yellow (i.e. it is a "warmish" cool white, if you will excuse the seeming oxymoron). From my perspective, this type of tint is the most pleasing, because the light provides the higher lumen output of CW (as compared to the NW version), without distorting color rendition much when used outdoors (such distortion being a common drawback of CW tint).Speaking of lumens, this light does seem to crank out a ton of photons on max (using a fully charged 16340 battery). In my admittedly unscientific ceiling bounce test, the light on max lights up my master BR pretty well - not as if the ceiling light has been turned on, but getting close to that level of output. Even with a regular CR123A battery, the 1C V2 is plenty bright, which should be good news for those who don't want the hassle of recharging 16340 batteries. On the other hand, the lowest modes of this light are low enough to use in the dark to get around or read a map or book without ruining night-adapted vision or experiencing uncomfortable glare, respectively. The tail switch of this light has a crisp and smooth action, both when used for momentary on as well as constant on. The side switch also has a nice positive click when it is pressed during mode switching. The anodizing and general fit and finish of this light are also excellent, except for a few machining marks near the tail switch which I noticed upon closer inspection. Here are a few further observations which are not really criticisms, but might be relevant depending on your personal preferences:- This light comes with a steel "strike bezel", which ThruNite claims on its website is for "defense and emergency applications". That might be a fair statement - I can't really affirm or dispute that - but if one has larger than medium-sized hands (in the case of men), this light is liable to be entirely buried in the palm, with no real protrusion of the steel bezel that one can use. Nevertheless, the steel bezel is still a nice feature in terms of protecting the head of the flashlight, at the very least.- The beam pattern tends to be floody, which I personally find very useful for an "every day carry" light. It does have moderate throw and, in my rough estimate, would provide effective illumination up to 50-60 meters, but if one wanted to use this light as a search light, she might be disappointed.- For those aficionados who like to scrutinize beam pattern on a white wall, there is a very slight "doughnut" effect that might be detectible on the wall, i.e. the center of the hot spot seems just a tad dimmer than the "rim". However, in real life illumination usage, this "doughnut" effect is in my experience practically negligible. In short, I am very pleased with this light and plan to buy another for my daughter.Update on 4/17/15: I have used this light daily for two months now, and it is still performing beautifully. One thing to note if you are looking to remove the tail switch assembly from this light (say in order to replace the rubber switch cover): you would need to unscrew the threaded retainer ring (that holds the switch assembly in place) inside the flashlight by turning the ring clockwise, NOT COUNTERCLOCKWISE. It seems counter-intuitive but that's how the thing is designed.

Great!
This is a good all round torch. Its a bit big and heavy in my pyjama pocket but a good size in my hand and the perfect bedside torch. On its lowest setting it doesn't blind me in the middle of the night but it provides ample light so that I can see easily with it to get around the house. If I take it outside I make it briefly because the battery doesn't last long on the higher settings, but it does seem to perform as stated under the battery life specs. I find this not too inconvenient because I keep a collection of rechargeable batteries. The on-off button is easy to find and feels good to use; but I find it difficult to find the settings button because its behind the light beam and not easy to see or feel. Needless to say it's robust and wouldn't suffer from normal use and being dropped. I think there's no such thing as the perfect torch for all applications but I'd have to say that this one comes close. It's not stupidly expensive so I have a couple of other ThruNite torches . A smaller 'Ti' ... made of titanium, that I love ... I also got a Ti for my wife that she loves to use.I've had many torches since my first scout torch and still got some of them, like a head torch that I'll probably replace one day with a ThruNite.I reckon if you can find a better torch than a ThruNite you're wasting your money.
