Chris Babcocks review is wrong, he just didn't know what he was doing. You have to push the ball into the piece where the cap screws on, that's why there are slits going down it so it can fit over the ball before screwing on the cap. It works perfectly!

The media could not be loaded.  I was looking for a mounting system that wasn't permanently mounted to one vehicle. This looked like it would fill my needs. I read the reviews, and either the other buyers are paid reviewers, or I'm missing pieces. I opt for the former. The parts I received seem to be solid enough to mount my Sirius Onyx black to my truck, using the CD player. However, the retaining ring and mount were absolutely useless in mounting the unit. The retaining ring easily slid over the ball on the mount. That's the problem. Nothing stopped the mount from falling back through the retaining ring. See the video.

Should have bought this sooner. The mount fits into my 2014 Nissan Altima CD slot with no issue. The thumbscrew allows you to secure the unit to hold it into place. I'd previously tried a bag mount on the dash which worked well but required me to lean forward to adjust the XM receiver channels...sort of a pain, plus it partially blocked my road view.. This mount puts the receiver with half an arm's length reach and does not obstruct the drivers view at all. It also does not obstruct any of the HVAC or radio controls within the car.Wish I'd have bought this sooner. Makes use of basically an unused CD slot and worked great for my application.

Great idea, would of given it 5 stars if the design was a little different. I have a Buick Lacrosse and the turn knob you use to tighten the devise can't get a good seal on it because of the shape of my radio/cd player panel and sometimes I get in the car and I hit my knee on the devise and the xm receiver fall down and i have to re-tighten it all over again, I just have to be careful when I get into the car because I have long legs

I love this!! Makes my XM radio easy to navigate and puts a use to that useless cd slot. Easy to install and remove if needed. Wish I had this year's ago.

Little to bulky covers the volume button..but it holds under alot of simi vibrations

Took a little while to figure out how to install the directions weren’t very helpful. It’s nice for what I needed it to do but doesn’t hold my Sirius radio dock completely.
