The Last Domino? The Hits
M**Y
A retrospective collection of Genesis anthems.
The majority of the 27 songs on this release will no doubt form part of the setlist on the upcoming Last Domino Tour which it would seem to be the band's final tour given Phil Collins sadly failing health. So it seems fit and fair that the occasion is somehow remembered in the form of a release of the backbone of classic live Genesis titles in studio format ahead of the obligatory Live DVD and CD post tour. Many Genesis fans myself included will argue lots of tracks have not been included but overall I think the 27 tracks chosen highlights the band's career post Peter Gabriel when they enjoyed a massive cult following throughout the globe no doubt boosted by Phil Collins huge solo career and performances. Genesis are one of those bands you either love or hate a bit like Marmite I guess but they have earned their place at the top table of British Musical Heavyweights and this current release will be regarded as a fit and proper tribute to a band that truly delivered throughout their long illustrious history.

Big & Heavy
This is pretty much all you need if you are a casual fan of Genesis. To be honest this is something you need if you are a die hard fan of Genesis too. The track listing must be based around their coming tour as it makes no sense otherwise. There is not a track from every album nor is it in chronological order. There are some strange choices (first track, Duke’s End?) There is some of the Peter Gabriel / Steve Hackett era included as well as the much more commercially successful three man line up material. More of less it all plays well together with the pop songs balancing out the longer progressive more difficult numbers. It is a big and heave item with the four discs being housed in a book like sleeve. Built to last just like the band who have been doing this now since the 1960s. Well worth having in your collection.

All Nostalgia but I'm Getting Old!!
14 years since they last toured and I saw them at Old Trafford, I'm older they're older and this time they are at Manchester Arena, I'm in a Box and Phil never mind he can't dance,he can't stand or play drums anymore either, but it's the last time I will see the band & Phil, one of the biggest influences on my teenage years musically, seen half a dozen times, time to say goodbye, might as well do it in style!!!

Good songs but there are better collections
Although the tracks on this collection are all good songs, the majority are taken from the bands work during the 80s and 90s. For a more varied compilation of tracks that encompasses their earlier songs along with their later tracks, The Platinum collection is a much better purchase. There is also R-Kive which has a good mix of tracks plus solo songs from the band members side projects.

Definitely not the tour setlist.
Given PC's poor health during the Last Domino? tour it's a good job they didn't try this extensive playlist. Hopefully chosen as some of the bands favourites it's basically another greatest hits CD. One for the collector and anyone wanting to know a little about Genesis history.

KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BUYING: A compilation, not a LIVE ALBUM!
This is the title of their latest tour, the artwork of the tour, the SETLIST of the tour. You even get a booklet with tons of pictures of the tour. But this 2 disc set is a simple compilation of studio songs from previous albums. It's not a bad compilation per say, but I was expecting live recordings from their last tour. I would not have bought it had I known.

Das perfekte Souvenir zur letzten Tour
Mit der traurigen Gewißheit, daß Genesis nicht mehr touren wird, ist dieses Album eine schöne Erinnerung an eine schöne Zeit.
