Camco 23402 Back-Flow Preventer

Worked exactly as was described.

Way better than the equivalent plastic one I bought from another store.

I had to add a five star rating to offset the one star rating for having lead content noted in a previous reviewer. California requires a label on everything that contains the most minute amounts of lead. If you wouldn't use this product because of lead then you must not use any electrical extension cords. Virtually every extension cord sold today contains minute levels of lead and because of California's extreme consumer protection laws it must be labeled as such. This product rocks and work's as advertised if you live in the real world outside of California.

This device appears to be nicely machined. There is a question of the service life of the spring that closes the valve which is similar in form to the cylinder valves in automotive engines. Unfortunately I couldn't get the female end NPT thread to fully seal. The male end sealed perfectly with Teflon tape only. The female side seeped with Teflon tape. I reinstalled with a typical non-setting PTFE pipe compound but that leaked as well. I cleaned the PTFE compound and tried again with a setting joint compound that I allowed to set for a couple of days. That immediately started the slow drip when water pressure was applied. The original hose bib was reinstalled sans this check valve with only Teflon tape with no drips so I can only conclude that the female thread in the check valve was defective. Another customer review mentions that the genuine Camco product is stamped with their part number and name (mine is not) so it appears that the seller (American RV Co.) has shipped me a knockoff of the genuine product.

Excellent quality product made of solid brass and all metal back flow parts is exactly as advertised. Note: There are NO plastic parts in this product as you see in other products. I highly recommend this high quality product. The company, Airstream Orange County, is very helpful and extremely devoted to quality service to customers. They go overboard to be sure you are satisfied with the products they sell. They are particularly helpful in finding the products you want. I ordered 2 of these. One is a genuine Camco product, stamped with "Camco" and "23402", the other didn't have Camco packaging, is a slightly different design, and is only stamped with the arrows. Amazon of course replaced the knockoff for me. A good product, it works well. I will update if it ever rusts or fails.

Several issues. First, the product does not fit either a male faucet or male hose fitting so it's useless. Second, it's marked with a warning that it contains lead. Third, the warning label looks like it has clearly seen some use, indicating this might have been previously shipped and returned. Fourth, all the Camco products I have purchased are clearly labeled/packaged as being a Camco product; this one was just wrapped in a large plastic bag which was tied in a knot. Camco does show is product number on their website but the photo Camco shows has the product number stamped on the side adjacent to the arrows.No wonder Amazon said don't bother to return the product.

Needed for flushing my RV black tanks. Hooked it up to the rinse spinner line.

don't be fooled, they advertise one thing and send you another lesser valued part. but it works okay, i think, can't be sure yet.
