MeanWell MEAN WELL original LRS-350-15 15V 23.2A LRS-350 15V 348W Single Output Switching Power Supply

I have used *many* brands of SMPS for all of my projects. I keep coming back to Meanwell., usually a week or so after warranty runs out. Coworkers and family have learned just how stabile and long lived Meanwell products are. I have heavily abused my various Meanwell supplies, this 15v supply included. They keep on keeping on. High ambient temperature at full load? No problem. Changing capacitive and/or inductive loads? Bring it. The *only* issue I have is when dealing with overloads. Other brands have a feature to lower output voltage to stay within power rating. Meanwell uses a auto-reset breaker or poly-fuse so output cycles off and on.

With no power being drawn from the unit it draws just under 6 watts which I am very pleased with. The fan on my unit is rather quiet when it does come on. I am using the LRS-350-15 to keep my small emergency solar battery bank from dropping below 12.6 volts overnight and on cloudy days, to lengthen the life of the batteries. To accomplish this I put together a not very pretty, adjustable constant voltage regulator that the 350-15 feeds into. As of right now I am happy with this unit and hope it has a very long life.

This power supply is helping me build a backup battery system with lifepo4 batteries. It seems to be holding up pretty damn well. The fan doesn't run constantly because it seems to have a built in sensor to detect heat and turns the fan on/off when needed which is good when you don't want a noisy battery pack all the time (Although you are suppose to have built-in fans anyways to the case thats housing your batteries). The adjustable voltage helped alot because it kept shutting off so I had to play with it a bit in order for it to work but I was finally able to bring it back up to 14.6V. I'll continue to monitor and update this review in about 6 months. (Which would be around hurricane season)

small size, low noise, works fine for radio supply

I used this unit for 210Ah lead acid house battery in my camper van. It worked fine for charging lead acid battery for two months. I upgraded the lead acid to LiFePO4 battery. So I increased the charging voltage to 14.5v and connected charging cable to the new battery. Then, a big spike burnt my battery terminal and the cable get pretty hot. Almost burnt my fingers. But the unit was still green LED on. Several minutes later, I tried again to make cable connection. Then, another big spike happened again and I could smell some burning chemicals. I opened the cover, and found two condensers were exploded. No led was on, and produced no output at all. Simply speaking "DEAD" At that moment of connection, battery terminal voltage was 13.3v and charging voltage was 14.5v. I brought this issue to Amazon customer team. After passing me through seven associates, they finally agreed that the unit was defective. But their settlement on this issue was neither refund nor replacement was possible. Buying this unit is up to you, however, I will not do the same mistake again.
