11" Personal Comfort A5 Bed vs Sleep Number p5 Bed - King

Over the last weekend our Jack Russell chewed a hole in our Sleep Number bed. I was super bummed- I LOVED that bed. So I went to Sleep Number and found out that according to the sales guy, he couldn't give me a delivery date until I paid (I did get an approximate time frame of 7-15 days). So went online to see what our options were- Found the personal comfort bed and ordered it and I knew before I paid when it would arrive (two days late)Set up- was difficult but that was totally my fault- watch the video and follow it to the T and you'll be fine. They say it takes 30 minutes to assemble and I did it in 45 minutes, so most folks should be able to do it in 30.So once I got it all set up it is really very nice and the materials are quality and every bit as good as the Sleep number/select comfort bed it replaces.Another regret I have is that I went for the cheaper but not cheap model thinking that if it is horrible at least I'll not have wasted a ton of money. I should have gone for the best model but frankly I cannot imagine a mattress being any better so I probably made the right call.Last night, I got a great night sleep- I have rods in my lower back together and my cervical spine was also fused due to military injury as well as banged up ribs and shoulders. On a regular bed, sleep time is something I dread. I can't lay on a regular for more than an hour or two without having to get up and 'walk it off' but these air beds with different settings and a nice pillow top I can sleep the whole night no problem. If you have a bad back, multiple surgeries and arthritis- I sincerely suggest you give this a shot. I am a big guy 6'4 250 my wife is 5'7 128 and even with or dissimilar sizes we are both perfectly comfortable.In my job now I travel a lot globally and I have stayed in some of the nicest hotels in the world. I have yet to sleep on a mattress that is better than this type of system and I fully expect the Personal Comfort to be excellent. I can't even consider coil/spring beds anymore. They are not nearly as durable, don't provide all encompassing support and quickly become horrible as the springs wear out.I cannot see any reason why this bed would not last the next 20+ yrs the air chambers are VERY well made as are the rest of the materials.If it goes wrong or I run across problems in the next few months I'll update this and let folks know. I understand first hand what a horrible sleeping experience can do and hopefully I can help someone else. Definitely should consider this bed it really is good.

We ordered this bed on February first 2015. It was delivered on the 6th in three large boxes but each one was light enough for a 62 year old to lug them up the stairs to our loft bedroom. We installed this mattress on an old waterbed drawer platform. The only complication is that the waterbed platform has a solid plywood deck, the hoses that go from the 2 air mattress bladders are intended to exit under the bed frame where the pump is to be located. I used a 2.5" hole saw to cut holes in the deck to route the tubes through The quick connects on the tubes are easy to use and locked in securely. We did not watch the installation video, we used the 1 page quick setup guide packed in the box. It is not super clear on installing the 1" foam that goes under the air mattress but we figured it out. I would say that it took about 2 hours total for removing the old, cleaning up and doing the install. The cables for the controls are long enough for easy routing. The pump is set up in one of the underframe drawers. The pump is not super quiet but at this point nothing seems to be leaking so it does not run during the night. The hardest setting is 50. I am using 21 and my wife is using 15. This mattress is not super plush with only about 2" of foam on top of the air system. That was what we wanted and expected. So far so good. My wife was miserable on our 10 year old conventional unit. She is doing fine, so am I. Time will tell the rest of the story. One thing to note is that the display will show a significantly lower pressure when you not laying on the mattress, so do not assume that the air volume has changed, just check the value after you lay down.jim

My husband and I love our new mattress!No more back pain for him, no more hip pain for me!!... we enjoyed assembling the mattress which was quite easy (30 minutes), knowing at the touch of a button can make all the difference in a good night's sleep is priceless!The actual price is just right, unlike the other sleep number system we found (same equivalent to the one we purchased) to be outrageous! One thing to note, you get best results while relaxing on the bed to find your ideal number comfort! Once you leave your area of the bed, the number changes! (Less) due to air distribution. This system has dual air chambers so you & your partner can independently achieve your personal comfort at a touch of a button From 5 to 50. The chambers are covered, the cover is one piece which is zippered so you do not see the separation of the dual chambers. My husband enjoy his side of the bed between 28 to 35 depending on how hard he worked that day. My ideal number is 15 which releases alot of stress off of my left hip!The staff members we contacted are true professionals. I even purchased their Bamboo sheet set which is designed to keep our body temperature 5° lower since we are usually warmer sleeping on the foam portion of the mattress! (This holds ones body heat throughout the night!) The bamboo technology is rather amazing with these sheets, it truly works and is ideal for this mattress system for those who are concerned with being too warm at night.So! I was inspired by an interesting conversation with a co-worker This morning concerning my 11" Personal Comfort mattress.Here it is 2017, Only to realize my husband and I are still in love with our 11 inch personal Comfort air mattress.
