These were actually COLD right out of the package!
The first thing out of the box was that were actually cold. Second was the quality of the material used as well as the YKK zippers. Anytime an item has YKK zippers, you can guarantee it's a quality product. Love these! Just ordered a set for another bedroom, also.

Not overly cooling
They do not feel overly cooling through pillowcase. They are nice and soft and did fit my king size pillowcases well.
