This is an early incarnation of GL. Don't compare this to the late 1960s books or animated versions.
I had to make adjustments reading this version of GL. Both he and Carol are dumb as cluck stupid. That is how they were written at the time. Stories that focus on the alien of the week are a little better. It seems that DC didn't have a firm grip on GL until the later 1960s-1070s. In the early books he is very one dimensional. There are some good stories but it was a slog. I like GL for who he evolved into. This book focuses on his starting point. Dimond in the rough.

Classic Hal Jordan!
Stories and art that set the tone for 70+ years. These stories are why Geoff Johns brought back Hal.

Discovering a Classic Superhero
I wasn't familiar with the origins of the Green Lantern but this introduction was an interesting series. I think another character was the Green Lantern in the 1970s but I enjoyed Hal Jordan as the Green Lantern.

A Great Collection!!
A wonderful collection of the Green Lantern silver age comics from the 1950's - 1960's!! Most people could never afford to buy the original books, but here you get reprints of Showcase #22, 23 & 24 and The Flash #1-9!! If you were to try to purchase these, you'd be out hundreds, perhaps thousands of dollars!! This is well worth the price!!

SILVER AGE GREEN LANTERN AN AGELESS WORK OF COMICS ART!
DC Silver Age Collections are the most finest and important pieces of modern day superhero art ever. I recommend them--even GREEN LANTERN--VOLUME 1.

A fun retro look at the early issues
I found the frequent references to his "Eskimo mechanic" as a little jarring, in the current PC climate, but otherwise enjoyed this as an interesting backgrounder on the Green Lantern character.

Great book, great series.
Fun trip down nostalgia lane. I love reading these silver age stories so I can relive those days and those stories that got me hooked on comics. Seeing these stories once again I noticed how well they survived the years. Very basic storylines but fun nonetheless. Gil Kane's artwork was and still is amazing..I just love this silver age series that DC has started.
