Mavericks, Mystics, and Misfits: Americans Against the Grain

Well done
This is a subtly layered book. Why did the author choose the individuals discussed in the book? Why did I find some of the people so unpleasant, why were some so interesting that I wanted to learn more about them? The author, whether deliberately or inadvertently, challenges the reader to learn more about the characters that form a rich tapestry of this country’s history and future. Reading this book is time well spent.

Fascinating Read!
A fascinating read. Brings US history alive through the stories of courageous men and women who rose to the challenges of their times.

Great short bios of Americans we should know better.
Ten fascinating Americans of different eras in our history are profiled in these readable, reliable histories of notable Americans we might not have heard of. They're all worth knowing more about which has led me to pursue complete bios of several of them. It's also a great way to get young people to know more about history; much more interesting than books filled with chronologies of dates and events. There should be a library filled with them.
