Wonderful Tale for Youths AND Adults
Scratch Scratch is far more than an entertaining ghost story - and it is an excellent one of those. It explores how middle school students are working through relationships with their peers, with their parents and with the broader adult world. Lindsay Currie creates an insightful appreciation of the high emotion and looming life changes her characters are facing. All this would make for an interesting story, but the addition of the supernatural story line does so much more than just add a spooky element. It is the engine that drives this plot forward, introduces the history of haunted Chicago and ultimately leads the characters to multiple levels of discovery about ghosts, each other and themselves. Treat yourself to a special book and read Scratch Scratch.

Misprint
The story is okay so far, but only got to chapter 8 when I realized I had a misprint book. I’m completely missing pages 55-86 and then a repeat of 87-118. So basically I’m missing 5 chapters of this story. I’m past the return date so we’ll see if I could get in touch with someone to replace this copy.Update: Amazon allowed a return and I will reorder because this story was great! Didn’t realize it was a true story until the end. Really interesting, very creepy! Loved it

Love Lindsay Currie's books!
After reading and loving The Peculiar Incident on Shady Street by Lindsay Currie a couple years ago, I was really excited to see Scritch Scratch was coming out this year. Happily, I can say it did not disappoint in the least. I absolutely loved it! It was the perfect amount of spooky along with a great story of a young girl dealing with change and growing up. I always love the history that Lindsay includes in her books. I love learning about events in a book and then researching more about them beyond the book. This time round we learn about some fascinating, lesser known events in Chicago's history. I highly recommend her books to middle grade readers and adults alike!

I LOVE this Spooky Adventure!!!!!!!
Holy moly, this book is so great! I adore the main character, Claire. She is super believable as a 12yo. She's kind and smart and learns how to be brave in so many ways. She's worried her relationship with her BFF is slipping away AND has to navigate the newness of a ghost boy following her home! That's a lot to deal with and brings in a lot of great conflict. She also has an awesome relationship with her older brother, and I love reading scenes with the two of them. Overall, this is a GREAT spooky mystery that has the added bonus of teaching you a ton of cool facts about Chicago's haunted history. I cannot recommend this book enough!!!

Scritch Scratch is amazing!
Scritch Scratch was an amazing read aloud because it was filled with ghosts, mystery, friendship, and family. There's also a lot of Chicago history in the book that will keep you interested. We recommend this book if you like mysteries and ghost stories. It is very spooky! It was a really great Historical Fiction book since the events in the book really did take place. We recommend reading it during Halloween time because it will add an extra amount of spook BUT it would be a great read at any time of the year! We loved this book and want to read more written by Lindsay Currie! We hope she writes more books! ~4th grade class

Great Ghost Story for Ages 8 and Up
I didn't realize that the city of Chicago is so haunted. Great story line to introduce you to those real life stories. Now I want to go there and do a ghost tour.
