Daily Light for Your Daily Path (LuxLeather)

This is the MORNING portion of this devotional ONLY. It never occurred to me that they would take such a wonderful, time-tested devotional and omit half of it. There was no "Look Inside" feature that might have tipped me off, though there was one picture showing the book opened. Had I looked more closely, I might have seen that the evening portion of this devotional was missing. For the price, it's not really cost-effective to return it, so I will keep it. But I'm disappointed with this purchase.

There are several versions or editions of this book with similar inside content. This one, being smaller in format (approx 4" x 7") has only the morning devotions for a day, whereas other versions include both morning and evening. The devotions are simply Bible verses (English Standard Version) arranged in a streaming format by theme, with no other narrative. I have this edition and have been pleased with it enough to order several more as gifts. Its smaller size is handy for a bedside table or for travel. The beautiful leather binding in warm brown is artfully embossed on the back and front edges, with gold title imprinting and brown satin bookmark. The leather is smooth on the front and feels good to the touch. There's a smooth rectangle on the back cover near the bottom where the book could be personally imprinted if desired. - As to content, again be advised that this edition is the "morning only" devotionals. But that's OK in exchange for the smaller, easy to handle format. Another difference is that this edition doesn't have the subject-matter indexing at the end...only a listing of the texts arranged in Bible order. Because of the free-flowing arrangement of the Biblical texts for each day, which lends ease of reading, the Bible verse citations are grouped together at the bottom so as not to interfere. This is good news/bad news, since if you really want to know the source of the verse, it involves some back-and-forth to match them up with the correct citation. But again, a small matter as trade-off. This is a quality product in format and is a lovely way to begin the day, reading many of the classic, all-time-favorite Bible verses interwoven with those not so familiar, all tied together in a theme for each morning.

I love this book but am wanting the Daily Light on the Daily Path which is a Devotional Text book of scripture by Samuel Bagster & sons Limited and has a scripture reading devotional for EVERY DAY AND EVERY EVENING. The Daily Light I ordered is just for every day...NOT also for nighttime.I have an original copy of the London book printed in Great Britain. It is the most beautiful book I have ever owned and I have been looking and looking for the new edition. MORNING AND EVENING PRAYERS...which is ALL SCRIPTURE. It is a precious book that would make an excellent graduation, wedding, or birthday gift for anyone who wants to know GODS word of comfort. PLEASE SAMUEL BAGSTER and SONS...give us an economical copy perhaps leather so we can give them to our loved ones as a gift. The morning one is great but I long for both day and night scriptures............Respectfully...Carol

This compilation of Bible verses for daily meditation is absolutely fantastic! I have lost count of the number of times it either was exactly what I or my students needed to hear in a particular day because I would read it to my college classes daily. It's just really good stuff.

I have used several daily devotionals before, but this has become my hands-down favorite. It's one page for each day. Each page begins with a short verse or fragment that serves as the key idea and follows with a couple paragraphs of verses and fragments that are stitched together to continue the flow of that idea. At the bottom of the page the passage references are listed so that readers can further reflect if they wish.What I like about this methodology is that by the end of the page I am left with the truthfullness of the key verse deeply implanted. The way the passages have been pulled together they serve as a great cloud of witnesses and leave the impression that, "yes, the Bible does indeed say that this is true." I find that it effectively brings me to prayer and adoration regarding whatever truth or promise or attribute of God is being highlighted. It has served as a great way to begin my day.And for a few notes on the particular format of the book I am reviewing here, it is leather-bound and verses are in the ESV translation (which I personally love). It feels like a great price and quality for what you get, and the small size makes it great for my office desk. Because the content for each page is not extensive, the text is a clearly readable size. It's also perfect for a gift. The binding has enough embelishments to make the whole book look very pleasing but for under $15 bucks it's very affordable. I was disappointed only in that I had wanted the morning and evening readings and the version that I got was for a daily reading only. I have an older version which has both morning and evening readings. The one I was sent equals to the morning reading onlh

Simple, easy to read and understand....because it's text is scripture. Selected verses tied together with thought and insight. A daily blessing for morning or night. A must have testimony to the truth of scripture.RT Asheville NC
