Phenomenal!!!! Must read 💜
A phenomenal young adult read which explores identity, race, sexuality/transgender identities, coming of age, bullying, the confusing emotions that teens go through, dreams and determination, friendship and family dynamicsFelix Love is one of the most dynamic ya characters I have ever come across!Even though he tends to be seen as a teen who's not that socially dynamic at school but he's loyal to his friends, family and his dreams.Inspite of all the extreme bullying in the form of revelation of his past and his dead name, he tries his best to deal with everything. Thanks to his mates! The forever support cheerleading team! And yes, his hardworking, awkward dad too!Felix falls in love.Felix falls in love again.I love how the story represented how there's a basic difference between the love we deserve and the love we think we deserve.I love the writing. It's so well written. There's not even a dull moment in the entire book! I love how the ending wrapped up everything so well. The characters are unforgettable and incredibly realistic. The character and plot development too fantastic!

This book has everything!
This is such a beautiful book. While I am not the target audience for this book, I absolutely loved it. This is the story of Felix, who is transgender and seeking answers into his gender identity, while dealing with normal young adult issues, such as school, creating art, deciding on a college, friendship. His teenage years have the added struggles of racism, transphobia, cyber bullying, and family problems. It conveys so many important and relevant lessons that I feel could benefit everyone, especially in times such as these where we all need to keep learning, improving, and being active.I do need to deduct some minor points because of how fast and easily the word “love” gets tossed around between two characters, and that kinda was cringey for me but I guess teenagers can be a bit dramatic at times so I’m letting it slide just because of how lovely the rest of the book was. This book was everything! It was adorable, funny, and fierce. If you have not read this yet you must read it.

Perfect blend of queer rep, mystery and contemporary YA issues! 💜
Ohmylord! This book is so good! Please pick it up, not just bc it's pride month but like whenever you can. It's not only heartwarming but also deals with so many issues and is informative as well.TW: Bullying, Queer phobia, TransphobiaAfter his surgery, Felix is still coming to terms with his identity, being a trans queer black, trying to find himself and make a mark looking for acceptance from his father who still calls him by his dead name at times, dealing with the anxiety of getting into the most prestigious art schools, finding someone who'll love him for him and the added pressure of being bullied by a vile coward hiding behind social media, who's deeply transphobic. It's a dynamic contemporary queer rep ya, dealing with so many issues, including transphobia even in the queer community, friendship, jealousy with a dash of mystery which will keep you hooked. Also, the love triangle was dealt in such a good way like ngl, I'd my doubts since that trope has become one of the most clichéd ones. Can we please appreciate that cover, with Felix's surgery scars (I got to know about the scars from a review).

Beautiful yet Underwhelming 🧡
🧡 Felix Love has never been in love. And while he is proud of his identity: black, queer and transgender, he is afraid that it may marginalise him too much. When someone publicly posts his dead name along with his old pictures from before his transition and starts messaging him homophobic threats and insults, Felix thinks he knows who that person is and decides to catfish him himself. But what he does not expect is to end up in a love triangle and discovering his real self.🧡 Everyone loves this book. This was in my tbr for months before I finally decided to pick this up in February. And until that point I had heard nothing but good things and so when I did read this, for me it ended being slightly underwhelming.🧡 I loved all the characters. Felix was insecure, ambitious, had that drive to prove his worth and just so damn real. His best friend Ezra was basically my favorite character and the kind of friend I wish I had. The trans rep was very well done through the book. I learned a lot through the book and its characters. I could understand Felix's struggles and was constantly rooting for him!🧡What didn't really work for me was the plotline. According to me, it could have been better. The plot, compared to the characters and the writing (which was great), wasn't that well done. Now it maybe that I don't like love triangles that I didn't mesh with the story but anyhow I was left craving more! There was much more I wanted to happen but didn't. Still I'd recommend this for the representation and the beautiful characters 🧡Rating: 3.5/5🌟

5 undoubtedly smashing stars!
I’m not quite sure how to put into words how I feel about this book. This book was written for LGBTQIA+ readers and it is so heartfelt and emotional and raw and so REAL. I understand why everyone was raving about this book when it first came out and I’m annoyed that I didn’t read it before now but I’m glad that I finally picked it up cos I would definitely recommend it to everyone! It’s about love—finding love, being in love, loving oneself and loving others. It’s about identity—understanding and accepting and finding what feels right to you in your skin. It’s about acceptance and art and family and friendship. The story is told solely from Felix’s perspective and I think Callender captured the teenage character and experience so well through him. These characters were young and imperfect. They made stupid decisions and silly mistakes and they were so realistic in their complexities and flaws even though I admit that sometimes they frustrated me! Felix really grew on me as the story progressed but I also enjoyed reading about the side characters, although I will say that the side characters came across as mostly two-dimensional compared to Felix's very well-rounded one.Maybe this makes me sound lame or whatever but I feel so privileged to follow Felix’s journey and to witness the hardships and painful rage-filled moments he experiences, but to also follow his journey to understanding and accepting himself and to finally finding and embracing the love he absolutely deserves. Oof, honestly, just thinking about what he goes through, the terrible things people can say and do to others, makes me so emotional and angry and weepy. This story made me hate people more (lol, kidding, sort of) but it was also healing and heartwarming and hopeful. It will surprise absolutely no one that this book made me cry. This story encompasses so much that I feel like it would be impossible for me to try and include everything in a review. Honestly, I know my review would pale in comparison to the beauty that is Felix’s story and Callender’s writing so the best thing you can do for yourself is to read this gem.

MUST READ
This book is a Triumph. It's a celebratory tale of self discovery, self acceptance, romance and believing in yourself. This book is a wonderful and, at times, difficult journey through the life of our sweet, shy, talented and also slightly dense MC Felix as he navigates modern day New York as a Black Trans Queer individual.Felix goes through various avenues to accept himself throughout the book including; finding a trans support group, researching all the many points on the trans spectrum, dealing with prejudice from Feminists who believe he's a misogynist, trying to unravel his complicated feelings towards his parents and best friend, trying to get into art school, coming up with a misguided revenge plan for something that happened to him, not believing in himself or his skills, and also wanting love and romance whilst being Oblivious to what's RIGHT in front of him.I liked how this book showed that even in modern New York (arguably one of the most liberal places there is) there are still prejudices and ignorance within the Queer Community. It also tries to show that you shouldn't be scared to ask for help, and that most of us don't have a clue and are just trying our best.I also Adored the romance in this and the characters were just brilliant 😭😍💕CW: The book deals with lots of heavy issues such as homophobia, transphobia, transphobia within the queer community, identity issues, abandonment, low self worth, pressuring people into having sex, consent and many more.I'm sure people who have read this love it just as much as I do but if you haven't all I can say is it's worth the hype! 💗🤍💙

This book is a whole masterpiece...
...that is a must read for trans and cis readers alike, and I can't read to read more of Kacen's books. It would be really nice to see "for fans of Kacen Callender" instead of "Becky Albertalli" on reviews. The story deals with the more difficult topics, like being deadnamed, online bullying and having old pre-transition pictures shared publicly, alongside a very sweet romance, self discovery and a whole lot of art. While the difficult topics were harrowing to read, it was expertly handled by a trans author, and Felix never being deadnamed by the author was much appreciated.I love that Felix was a complex character, with many flaws. He's very messy when it comes to relationships, still finding himself and discovering what he wants in a relationship, and that was really sweet to watch. Honestly Felix is one of my favourite characters ever, I wanted to be his friend.

10/10 get it and read it!
NO SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW OF BOTH THE ORDER AND THE BOOK ITSELF.By far the the best book I have ever read, it is interesting, it's a roller coaster of emotions and I mean that with the deepest sincerity. This book made me laugh, cry, smile 'till my mouth hurt. Although I'm happy I've read the book I'm sad it's over, as I've grown such a passionate connection with the characters. The choices and decisions Felix had to make, the happiness and sadness showed within him made me love the book even more. Watching Felix grow and figure out who he is, what he plans on doing with his life, reading all that made me the most inspired I've ever been.If you're thinking of buying or reading this book. DO IT. It was the best decision I made to buy it. Buy it! Buy it! Buy it!The most beautiful book I've ever read, so well written, so beautifully written, so in depth. 100/10 couldn't have been written any better. If you're struggling with your identity read it! It's so motivating, inspiring and comforting. AND the delivery - delivered on time, great packaging, not damaged in the slightest. 100% worth the money.
