In a word, "no." My drum arrived damaged so I returned it, and replaced it with a Remo 22" Ocean Drum which I like better. All Ocean/Sea drums are a little awkward to play because of the shifting weight from the moving BBs. A simple frame drum of the same size is much more comfortable to play. Ocean drums are great for sound effects... not so much for playing. The most comfortable position for me is between the knees like a djembe, but you can also get some nice shaker effects by resting it on one thigh and tapping your heel.
