I would say Large to XL, I am taller and these were quite toight for 38 waisted big thighed, 6ft 3 man

A medium, I have the same problem, I'm literally between the two. I went for a large (On the off chance the sizes were all different) but they feel a bit baggy. However, if you do get a large, there are drawstrings to tighten them. I also use a belt. There are elasticated waists so they can stretch if theyre too tight but I doubt it would be!
